Do you remember your first NHL game?

Recommended Posts

Early 90s and I was young. All I can remember about it was that we had obstructed view seats at the old Garden and there was a fight.

No, I don't remember my first NHL game, although I'm pretty sure my dad took us to a game before we moved to N.J. That would have been somewhere around 1970-1972.

Somewhere around '80 at the Cap center in Landover, Montreal at the Caps. From what I recall it was the first time the Caps beat the Canadiens in a while. At least that's what I was told at the time.

1986, highest seats in the Dome, Oilers vs Flames, I was proudly wearing my 99 jersey, two things I remember from the night, the first time Gretz hit the ice and the flames fans heckling me, I was 6. My dad said I was in shock most of the game because I couldn't beleive Gretz, Kurri, Coff, Mess & Fuhr were playing in front of me.

My 6 year old will be going to the Flames/Oil game this Sat, still not sure if he is going to wear his vintage 99 jersey, he really wants too but I don't want him to have to listen to drunk flames sheep giving him a hard time, so I will veto it.

Bruins-Tampa Bay, 95 or 96, not sure which but I know Blaine Lacher was the B's goalie because for some reason I thought he was awesome. Obstructed view seats in the old garden and I got a Dmitri Kvartalnov jersey for like ten bucks. Good times

I remember mine pretty well because it was just this last year. I went to a Canucks game when they were playing the Wings. One of the coolest things was looking down at warm-ups, and seeing guys like Datsyuk on the ice. The speed of the game and the noise in the building was awesome, although the price of beer ($8.25 for a 12 oz) was pretty weak. I really want to go to a playoff game this year, but tickets are so expensive.

For me it was the game 6 of the Canadiens-Bruins 2004 playoff at the bell center and the Canadiens won 4-1 to force the game 7.

I remember Steve Begin smash his face into the board and the he came back later in the game with a full cage, about 40 stich points and scored a goal ! :D

Wings-Islanders 2003 at the Joe. Wings won 6-0, and the hecklers behind me were hilarious. First playoff game, last year against the preds. I love that old building.

See that same rivalry in Montreal...if you think the ACC was a good atmosphere, Bell Centre will blow your mind. Regardless of who you are cheering for.

Would have been 1985, maybe 86 as I would have to have been 5 or 6

My uncle took me to watch the Pens vs the Nucks at the Colliseum.

The Nucks were smoked that night, I believe Lemiuex had 2 or 3 goals and the nucks lost like 5-1 or 6-1 or something.

But that was what the scoreline looked like most nights for the Nucks back in those days

The Yellow Uni's with the "plate of spaghetti"/"flying skate" logo... :(

But I got a bag of peanuts, a coke, and for the third period a frosted malt :D ! We hung outside after the game and he helped me get an autograph from my hero at the time: Tony Tanti, after the game. I was thrilled and my mom and dad weren't very happy that we were home so late

***Edit***: Just found it!

Wednesday November 13th, 1985. Penguins 6- Canucks 3! (They didn't do as bad as I remember) ;)

My first game was durring the 94-95 season and it was Buffalo vs. Montreal, at the Forum. The game ended in a tie 3-3 and the top two stars ended up being Patrick Roy and Dominik Hasek.

My first game was the Devil's last game in the Continental Arena. They lost game 5 and the series to the Senators... I was bummed out that whole spring/summer

rangers at flyers for my 10th birthday (1994). we were in the very last row of the upper deck of the old spectrum. we were huge rangers fans, and couldn't afford good seats (much less any seat in the garden). rangers won!!! hands down my best birthday yet!

Penguins at Hurricanes 2001. I think it was the last row in the RBC center in Raleigh because I remember sitting with the NC State banners in the rafters and using binoculars to locate out Lemieux. Pens lost 3-2, but it was still pretty cool seeing my favorite players.

Is there any way to find the score sheets from old games online? My first game was March 23, 1995, Chicago at Vancouver. All I can find is that the score was 3-1 Chicago. I wish I could remember more but I was only eight.
