Bauer Vapor X60 LE

Recommended Posts

Sorry, you're thinking too much. There is no "general public" in hockey. I have had to explain for months now that there is a new Vapor skate line coming out "in the spring" to the "general public." There are gear whores on MSH

who need to know before it's launched and then there are PHEW lemmings who follow each other to the cliff. Other than that, the "general public" doesn't have a clue.

Chadd, glad you don't like them. More for the rest of us who do.

I think it will go over big with the PHEW crowd and their penchant for sharpies.

And folks doubted me when I mentioned the X:60 stick would be closely following the skate.

I mean, I don't know why, they'e had a holiday stick launch for the past 4 yrs...

If someone were to say closely I would think along the lines of a month or two after the X60 skate hit the market not 6 months. The X60 stick will noit be out until October

How long did you sharpen the knife to split that hair?

He's right though. It's 6 mos after. I wouldn't call it "close" either. But like I said, there's been a precedent for the past 4 years. Really didn't need your crystal ball to predict it.

It's possible they would launch more gear than usual to reastablish the brand name, Bauer is back and I think they need more, for the brand image, than a new pair of skates. Also, the x:60 is not even fully launched and now everyone is talking about the x:60 LE, which I think is from the to much hype generated around the x:60 that the general public is over saturated with it and want something new already.

I highly doubt Bauer needs to work on brand image. And I can guarantee at my pick up game tonight, no one will know what the x:60 is. Well, maybe one guy. Instead of Bauer rushing to drop a whole slew of brand new equipment, Id rather see them continue to develop quality products alternating a refresh of the supreme line and the vapor line. I think they have a great system that allows both product lines great marketing (opposed to Easton who will drop both stick lines at the same time of year). With Bauer's campaign us gear whores can justify buying new skates every year lol. and sticks. and gloves. damn, now I want the x:60s

Remember, there are a lot of people out there who may not know of Bauer as a successful brand before Nike came into the hockey world. Nike owned them for, what, 12-13 years. There are a lot of people that Bauer will need to convince that their quality and innovation didn't go away with Nike.

True, but when did the Bauer name turn to NikeBauer - 3 years ago? My xxx's have the original Bauer Wing on them. So kids who may have grown up with the NikeBauer name may not have had any idea that they were owned by Nike for 12-13 years. There's definitely two sides to look at it.

Yah, thats what I meant about two arguments. My view on it is how many people knew Nike owned Bauer? And how many people really feel that Nike was a strong influence in Bauer's designs? I just don't feel they need to worry about brand image, IMO Nike was always the weaker of the two.

I think Adidas is a different story because Adidas hasn't tried to puts its name in the hockey arena. I'm guessing but I'll bet that a lot of LHS folks had a conversation along the lines of:

"Nike makes hockey equipment????"

"Yeah, they bought Bauer a while back and got into it."

get ready for the rush of "where'd the shwoosh go?" posts

followed by the "what's a shwoosh?" posts

and finally the "do you call it a shwoosh or a check?" polls B)

Haha, only on PHEW it will now be "steezy" to have throwback xxxx's with the nikebauer logo. Then it will be dirty (edit:dusty) for a while, and then go back to being "dirty" just like those nike air zoom elites with red holders are right now. (second or third pic up today.)

And just to verify I only check PHEW to see new gear, and prostock stuff. Can't get enough of looking at gear.

Why? Almost all of the pictures of "new gear" are lifted from here anyways, and if they're not, it's some shop clerk who doesn't have to answer to anyone. Oh I miss the days of anonymity.

lol, why else do people come here? To talk with people who have similar interests. I enjoy every aspect of hockey gear, and love seeing anything out of the ordinary or new. So I go check PHEW. I don't expect it here, but its nice to know that I have a repository of solid information and a solid group of guys that can answer questions and give advice, especially regarding hockey gear. It's not expected that we see the new stuff here, but its nice to know it happens from time to time.

EDIT: Misread on JR's post and clarification - by new stuff I mean new from the stores, as in you just bought a new stick. Its a given if its new from the manufacturer it'll be exposed on MSH first.
