908ti itech cage

Recommended Posts

What helmets does this cage fit on with the cage holders in the correct position? I had to offset my Jofa 381 with my Bauer 4000. Its time for a new setup and I want to know how those NCAA boys get that 908ti to fit on that 4500 Bauer helmet.

Will it work on a Bauer 4500? If not, what helmets does it, CCM, Misson? Let me know.

PS, I do not like Itech helmets.

Moose,

Nice find man on the chart.

I read the "large cages in the NCAA thread" think I should get the medium or large?

Is it like Medium for kids, large for adults? I have a large Jofa 381 now but I have the mounts flipped so they are facing down not up if you know what I mean. I guess its a dumb question and just personal preference.....?

The key is to have your chin in the cup, regardless of the size. I've seen kids in larges and adults in mediums. It all depends on the shape of your head and face. The only way to know for sure is to experiment and see what actually fits best.

The CCM/Jofa 480 in Large is pretty long on me, but the Itech in Large is right on. It's probably somewhere between the 480 Medium and Large.

381 and 480 lengths are pretty similar, too.

I'm hoping with Bauer's acquisition of Itech/Mission, that somewhere in the future the 908TI is made to fit all Bauer helmets, all it would take is the top section of the two middle bars be slightly closer like the design of rest of Bauer's cages. I had to sell my previous 908TI because it would not mount properly to my 5000 or even line up to be mounted on my 9500.

That's interesting that they prefer the half wire shield. I don't really understand the advantage of that set up but I guess it must be all personal preference.

Some newfangled technology business. You also don't need to care for it like you do a visor.

I guess I just don't see the point. You might as well wear a full cage since the wires are going to be in front of your eyes anyways. Then again you do avoid the nasty chin cup. Whatever, to each their own.

Did you flip the clips? That's how Itech cages fit Bauer helmets.

Ya, thats going to be my setup. I love that 4500 helmet, so comfy, light and now with this TI cage I'll be rockin. I just have to figure out if I need the large or med. Gonna run to my LHS and see if the large fits, they don't have medium.

Pretty sure this a a 908.

<----------

It is - you have to invert the front clips for it to fit. Itech cages have always been that way - they even ship with the clips inverted.

Legend has it that John Madden went to his LHS to pick one up cuz the team couldn't get one shipped in time for the next game and the EM was swamped. Not sure if I read that in the papers or Chico told the story.

I know refs do it because they need a half-visor and some don't like the visor, so the half-cage is the next best thing.

I can't see how this cage is gonna be bad....I'm shocked its not more popular but the pricing is a bit high, its a great idea. I have to wear a cage, they suck but once I stop wearing one, I'll never be able to go back. Been wearing one for 17 years, no reason to stop now.

Yep

Very strange. I have never encountered an issue with Itech cages on a Bauer helmet.

Where can you buy replacement helmet front clips? I see that Jofa/CCM cages have front clips in the shape of an L which would allow you to attach that cage and work around those middle bars. Maybe one of those would allow that Itech Cage to work? If there was a choice of front clips, you could probably get any cage to at least attach to the helmet....it might look funny though. I ran a search for different types of front clips via google and found one but it was not the L shaped ones like a new CCM or Jofa cage has.

When mounting this 908 or Itech cages in general I read in a 908ti review that Itech cages are designed so that the front cage mounts "mount" upside down. Why is this with Itech cages? You see cages mounted both ways in the NCAA but what is the reason that Itech cages or any cage to be mounted with the front clips facing upward or upside down. Does it have to do with the J Clip and where it is placed and the travel of the cage if you take a blow or just that it would bring the chin cup upward closer to your face. Just curious if anyone knows.
