Easton S17 Skates

Recommended Posts

I am really interested in picking up a pair but in my searches I have found little to no feedback on the skates.

Can anyone please help me with a personal review.

Thanks

Well I am sincerly sorry if my reply was totally useless. It is true I have no experience with the s17's. But i do have a similar skate in the s15 and I like mine very much. And sorry hockeyman for wasting you time reading my useless reply.

And wouldnt your reply be more useless than mine?

I have tried on the SE16 at my LHS but they did not have the S17 in yet. Does anyone know if the fit (length wise) is similar. I fit an 8d in the Se16 perfectly but am I a 8D in the S17.

I have had mine for about 3 weeks now. I just love the fit of the stealth line so I love my skates so far. I was wearing 8.5D SE16's before these and I am in an 8.5D in the S17. The S17 has a significantly narrower heel then the SE16 though. I have gone through two pairs of S-15's and one pair of SE16's, with all of them busting in the toe caps so hopefully the new vibrum rubber toe cap holds up.

I would assume putting in those special flat foot sole things would help, I have flat feet as well but never really did anything about it, esp in a skate. Wonder if it would help... heh

if the fit is anything like the s12(which i think it is), then yes, they should work very well for someone with flat feet as they have very little arch support. the first skates i've used where i actually felt i needed more arch support.

uh, the skates have only been available for a few months. i don't think you're gonna get much feedback yet regarding durability. unless you know someone who can see the future

The skates are very comfortable, almost like my last pair of Kor Shift 2. Baked them once and they fit perfectly. One of the reasons I bought the skates is the light weight; wanted them for inline and now have a Labeda Hum'er chassis on them. IT'S BY FAR THE LIGHTEST SKATE I EVER WORN FOR INLINE HOCKEY. I heard the previous models were not so durable, I hope to post something positive in the coming months.

I guess only time will tell if Easton will solve their durability issues with their skates. If they can get reasonable wear out of them it will be a big step for them to gain a bit more of the market share probably at the expense of Bauer and CCM. They are one of the most comfortable skates I've worn to date and that combined with lightness, protection, and better durability will make them a consideration by more hockey players. I've personally had no durability problems with the Eastons I've purchased but then again I'm not playing high level contact hockey all the time. My Graf 735's are lasting very well but they feel considerably heavier than my Eastons and I've had the Grafs for over a year and a half. Had my 1300's for going onto three years and they are just starting to show signs of wear.

The problem that eastons had/have is stricly from the retail point.Cause i have custom skate and i know they are made here in montreal and they have over 70 practice and over 250 games and they are stiff has the day i got them and minor scuff from other skates on it.The stitching and glue doesnt fall apart either. So if they did get the glue they are using in there pro skate into there retail it would help greatly.

Really? I have had my S15's for quite a while now with ZERO problems.

consider yourself lucky then ;)

as well documented throughout the site the first gen S15 definitely had major durability issues - mine felt apart in a few months.

S17 should hold together much better though - all the reported issues seem to have been addressed.
