Custom Gloves

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm really considering the idea of purchasing custom gloves this summer. I was curious as to whether you would recommend the Warrior Franchise or Eagle PPF, and why. I understand that part of the decision is personal preference, but I honestly like the fits of both gloves and am more questioning which is higher quality. I remember before this year's gear came out someone making the comment (Chadd I think?) that they weren't sure if the Eagle gloves were as high a quality as they had been in the past. On the other hand, the price jump in Warrior's gloves has me leaning towards Eagle from a wallet standpoint. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm leaning towards the Eagle PPFs. I've tried them on and they just feel right.

On a related note to your post, I'd like to order some custom Eagle PPFs in team colors. I really prefer the cut of the PPF and also prefer the tuff-teck. I found the old Eagle customizer online, but the tuff-teck options were really lacking. Does anyone know (or think) that they'll widen the selection for whenever they put their customizer back online? I'm looking at a navy/dark green combo, but only see it in the portofino. I'd want tuff-tek and the PPF style.

Also, my nearest LHS that is an Eagle retailer is a looooong way away. Are there any online retailers that let you put a custom order in through them?

Thanks (and sorry for piggybacking on your topic.) :D

Eagle PPF all the way..........Warrior would be cool if you got NHL graphics package and something different like Hossa pinky stripe but retail custom forget it......go with Eagle

Thanks for your input. I'm really leaning towards the Eagles, I'm just curious as to what I mentioned about someone saying that they weren't sure if they would choose Eagle this year based on quality. I believe it was another thread asking the same question as mine, but much earlier in the year where Chadd said that something didn't feel right about the new PPF's.

I just got a new pair eagle ppf's. There like butter. Msh2 is the best palm on the market, IMO. I was torn between the franchise 14" narrow and the eagle ppf as well. Quality seems good in both. I went with the eagle because of the palm. Good friend of mine has the warriors so I have tried both. The franchise is a bit wider than the ppf and a bit shorter in length. Custom warrios are really nice though, my friend just put a order in with tuff-tec, pearl mustang palms with pinky strip and custom color cuff extension. There going to be sick looking but 250.00 is a hefty price. Also there palm choice!! The mustangs are thin and soft but the get kind of saugy when wet. The micro nash also thin and soft but doesn't were that well. Nash is thick buy nice. You can get eagle's for like 165.00, Frachise stock in carbon 195.00.

Thanks for your input. Is it the general consensus that the MSH2 palm is the way to go if I go the Eagle route?

Was out glove shopping the other day with a buddy. I finally got to try on a pair of Franchise gloves and was not that impressed. Once I put on a pair of PPFs I went weak at the knees, they were perfect. Fit felt great, loved the fact that they were nylon, and MSH2 was butter. Definitely going to be my next pair when I have the money for a pair of customs.

I just finalized an order for custom eagles. I went with eagle because you can customize everything. For example- I got the color scheme I wanted, I got rid of all branding on the glove (except the Eagle on the cuff), palms/gussets, and more. I also considered extending my finger length by .25" (which wasn't as much of an up-charge as I thought it would be). I loved my black x70s and I've worn them out so it was a no brainer that way, but the fact that I'm paying for custom gloves and Eagle was really able to offer a completely customizable glove pushed me over the edge.

As for online retailers.... there are some great people you can work with over the internet if you're willing. That was my experience and the person who has been / is helping me is fantastic. If you go to custom glove route I can send you some information on the colors/ customizers eagle sent me (PM me if you do).

I have a pair of custom Franchises and they're great. I'll likely get some custom or retail PPFi with MSH2 palms sometime in the near future though.

Thanks guys. For those of you that have ordered custom Eagles, about how long was the wait from placing the order to receiving your gloves?

I asked this question in a different thread but it doesn't get as much traffic as this one. I'm in the market for a custom pair of Eagles as well but do they only offer the PPF model? I looked through the Eagle catalogue and the appropriate thread but haven't come to a conclusive answer.

No. I did the x70. Call eagle to ask them what types of gloves they do and they will also send you some of the customizers. They will answer all your questions (eagle over the phone and the customizer to a certain extent)

The wait may depend on their stock and what's ahead of you. I think they say 4-6 weeks.

Thanks guys. Think I'm going to have to get me some custom PPFs! Any input on what materials to use for gussets? Not really sure what the benefits of the different materials are.

Get mesh, they make the glove much cooler than with MSH2 gussets. I've had both, and mesh is much better.

I'm using a pair of Tufftek Eagles right now with digital palms and mesh gussets. The glove breathes well and I would definitely consider going with this combo if I decide to go the custom route.

I regret not going the eagle route, custom eagles are beautiful. My next pair of custom gloves (probably wont be for awhile) is defiantly going to be a custom pair of eagles in my team colors.

Which glove did you go with instead?

Probably not as durable as MSH2. I am very satisfied with the MSH2 combo on palms and gussets on my PPF gloves. The gloves really feel better every time you wear them. Plus they are just so wicked light.

How durable is the mesh?

The mesh is pretty thick so I wouldn't picture it wearing out quickly. When I first got my X72's a thread pulled out at the gussets, but mamasan fixed it for me and now they're fine. The MSH2 palm is the best feeling palm out there, and it's super durable. My stick chewed through the MSH1 overlay in 2 weeks, maybe less, but the MSH2 underneath still looks brand new.

You can do colors, palms, gussets, name ($10), finger length ($15), other various aesthetic changes as well. Talk to a retailer and they can help you out.
