My personal favorite is the TPS Red Lite XN10 with a one90 blade. Haven't tried the one 95 shaft/blade yet, just switching back to a two piece setup. I've seen lots of guys speak highly of the one 95 shaft/blade combo in various threads here. The AK27 shafts I've used have been nice, too.

My favorite combo is still the One90 shaft with a fresh wood blade. Have the one95 shaft also but I seem to always use the One90. Just feels more sturdy in my hands. I also don't touch composite blades, not for me.

My favorite right now is a Rbk 7k Sickick, and I'm about to order an 8k Sickick shaft. I'll probably pair it with either a Warrior Dolomite HD or a Mission Pro Stock, but this is the best kick and shot I've had yet.

standard would have to be ak27 + one95 blade, tapered would have to be rbk 8k + well i have a mission prostock, super light especially in total i spent less than $150

I have a 7k sickkick shaft I do not want..nor ever use...I used it maybe once

For me, it is tough to beat the One95 shaft and blade combo

I have an AK27 shaft on the way. I'll probably pair it with a One95 or AK blade. Alot of people seem to speak highly of the AK shaft on here. I'll give an opinion in about a week haha.

In the meantime, if the One95 shaft/blade combo plays in anyway like the OPS, I'll give it a 2 thumbs up.

+ one on One95 shaft - it produces awesome shots!

I currenty use One95 wood blade, but tried One95 blade as well & it's almost just as good - nothing beats wood for the feel though.

I think it has to do with the flex and kickpoint. Every shaft I've used to date has been off on something. The Dolomite 75 flex has a nice low kickpoint, but it's too stiff when I cut 5" off it. The Synergy 2 70 flex was nice and whippy, but the kickpoint is basically no different than a standard shaft. The One90 67 flex was way too whippy to use at all. Mission L-2 75 flex was whippy enough, but it took Jr blades and seemed to torque on shots.

That 75 flex 7k (which is actually a OPS with the blade cut off) has the nice whippy flex but loads up with the low kickpoint, and it's made a big difference in my shooting. No torquing either.

As someone who has never used a shaft/blade combo.....is it relatively easy to put them together and take them apart correctly?

I am thinking of trying the 0ne95 combo next time.

super easy. As long as you buy a heat gun. available at harbor freight, home depot, wal-mart, etc....

1. Heat the shaft slowly and evenly about 5 min

2. Heat glue on blade

3. Insert blade into shaft

Of course make sure you buy standard blades for standard shaft, and tapered for tapered. If you experience any looseness a strip of tape placed on the end of the tenon of the blade and additional glue will solve that.

I've always just used the stove top. Rotate the shaft a 1/4 turn every 5 seconds or so.

Am I the only one without a heat gun?

Is step one a must? I never heat the shaft when I'm putting on a blade, only heat it when removing a blade. I just do step 2 & 3 when putting on a blade.

I use stove at home, but the heat gun is nice in case of emergency on the bench....

Yes, it expands the shaft a bit so you can slide in the blade, and when it cools the blade is secure. If you can slide the blade in without heating the shaft, there's a problem.

The RBK 8k shaft + 8k blade is not it. You would think they would be a perfect fit but they aren't. I remember at the time that the blade slid in really easy but didn't think much of it. Sure enough, half a period into a game it starts to wobble so I had to finish the game with my backup. I put a piece of tape over the end of the blade and played with it again. It didn't seem to be loose but just didn't feel right. I took it out and put two pieces of tape on the end and it fits snugly but still doesn't feel right. Prior to the 8k blade, I had an xxxx blade and it felt great. So I'm thinking it's the blade. For a $65 blade (one of the more expensive ones), it sure is disappointing.

Again, I'm using the same setup. I'm not sure the player whos pro stock blade i have, but its a lefty with a short square toe blade that is a mild mid curve i put a bit of toe in (and cracked). I have another one but the curve is a heel and i dont like it.

Id say for tapered shafts the se and the 8k are among the top, however the se blades arnt great and i havnt tried a reebok 8k blade, there the same as the 10k in 2 peices though, thats why the 8k is the top shaft.

For standard, id suggest a warrior ak27 or a one95 and for blades i dont have a great deal of experiance but i have used a one95 and the blade was great and solid, the ak27 blade if its anything like the dolomite would be not a bad choice as well.

If you like wood blades, i find montreals are the strongest but hard to come by so id recommend a christian or sherwood , whichever you can find. The sherwood 950 is tapered as well so.

I got a 8k shaft. Incredibly light! The shaft itself was 284gr. With a mission pro stock king pattern, 414gr before cutting and 392gr at my regular length. About the same weight and feeling than a 10K for 115$

No, I use a portable stove for camping. Dont really need 5 mins for the shaft, usually 30 sec or so and its hot enough.

i'm really curious to see how your 8k experiment works out as i'm pretty much in the exact same boat as you. i also need to cut about 4-4.5" off the shaft to my desired playing length have tried some of the same combos as you with almost the same results. like you, i felt the dolo was just a touch too stiff and the one95 int. 67 flex is a bit too whippy.

please keep me posted if the 8k plays to your desired flex as i think i have the exact preference in flex profile/playing length as you. also, is there any way to remove the grip coating on the 8k? thanks.

you can sand the grip off...i might do it since i like clear coating more, but its not a BIG nuisance like other grips
