XXXX vs. ONE95

Recommended Posts

how was your snappers on the xxxx and one 95?

hey tonguesout.....not sure if you were asking me directly, but i can certainly answer....

i would say there was probably more zip on the snapper from One95, but i feel that i pull them off a bit quicker (time of release) with the XXXX

Just got a call saying it was out of stock. Where can I look at Bauer retailers in my area? I can't find a listing on Bauer's site...

where is your area and what curve, pattern and flex are you looking for?

Can it be turned into a shaft if the blade breaks?

I don't believe so, I mean you can certainly flip it but I don't think you can cut it and insert a tapered blade unless you shaved down the tenon as it is an elliptical shaft. I should mention that I have not tried this myself and am basing this on information from others.

I'm in Central PA. I'm looking for a 102 Flex in either a P92 or P88...

Where did your stick come back oos from ? I know that HG has them for like $170 + shipping and will get it to you within a week if you place the order over the weekend.

Not sure what kinda deal you picked up before though.

I ordered it from Kemps Hockey but got a call saying it wasn;t in stock. Anyway, I just got back from picking up a 102 flex P92 from "The Pond" in Deleware. It was a three hour round-trip but it was worth it. Now I can use it in my game Sunday.

One95 hands down for me....

But I am not a big fan of low kickpoint sticks, with the exception of the flyweight shaft. They feel like wet noodles to me. I can absolutely smoke a slapper and pinpoint wristers and snappers with either the One90 or One95. Stickhandling is about equal between the two, but the key for me is the feel when I shoot the puck. In the case of sticks for me the Supreme beats the Vapor. Skates however are another story altogether.

one95 for me. the vapor xxxx has awesome feel and after i used a one90 i wasn't sure if id like the one95. the 90 had no feel but was a great shooting stick. the one95 is the best of both sticks. awesome feel and shooting is unreal! i think the xxxx looks better, but thats until i saw a team canada one95. last year i would have said if you were looking for a shooting stick the one90 was the stick you wanted. and if you wanted a feel the xxxx was the stick you should get, now the one95 is the best of both stick

Personally, the one95 works for my style better. I use 106 flex and my stick lengths are about 2.5" longer than retail without a plug.

+ All my shots are quicker release, harder, and more accurate.

Wrist shots have great placement, my snap shots are extremely quick and easy to place, and my slapshots are heavy.

Kick point is perfect for me, I play forward and take a lot of wrist shots and snappers, and am able to load much more effectively than with the xxxx.

It's been very durable for me, which was quite unexpected... I'm 6'2"/240lbs, I skate at least five sessions a week, and I've only broken 1 one95 after about 4 months, and that was when a kid cross checked me in the neck, through the stick - it broke about 8 inches below the butt end. I use and abuse my sticks on other peoples sticks, legs arms etc. and am not afraid of unloading shots and slashes with it.

The flex on the stick retains itself very well, and none of the ones ive used have become whippy.

- pucks bounce off the blade with passes a lot more than with my xxxx's.

As far as the xxxx goes I could occasionally get a whistler of a snap off, and hardly a wrist shot, but the kickpoint just generally doesnt work for shooting as well for me.

Passing is just as good as the one95.

I like to pull out the xxxx's on a penalty kill though because of its weight for stick plays or when I'm gooning it up on someones ankle/wrist.

The xxxx does have great feel to it though, and passes arrive much easier. I would choose the one95 if you play a more shooting oriented game, and if you're into the higher kickpoint.

gooning it up eh? smart!!

Yeah, it's pretty much all I have, so I've found the heel on the xxxx to be a bit more... dangerous, and it feels like its just a generally stiffer heavier twig when not being used to shoot.

I have a game in 3 hours...it will be the first played with the ONE95. I'm stoked!

I definitely think you'll enjoy it, let us know how it went!

Absolutely LOVE this stick! Scored two goals with it tonight. Another game tomorrow night and Wednesday night. I'll give a more detailed review after Wednesday.

That was pretty much the same initial reaction I had. First practice my wristers were whistling under goalie arms and legs. For me there were no surprises as far as durability or anything else goes as I used it so you should be all set. Best of luck with the new stick!

2 games played and one drop in session with my replacement One95. I am loving the stick so far. The feel of the puck on the stick is amazing, and holy cow can I fire a wrist shot into the corners now. Well, not that I couldn't before, but it seems so easy now. ;)

can you get that curve for retail??

As for the sticks... I have used all the bauers from the xxx's on and I tell you I like the XXXLite more than the XXXX and then I loved the One90 and broke it... got the One95 and LOVE it even more... I don't think there is a better stick than the 95 out... they are way more durable... way more responsive... just a great all around stick.

I have a One95 shaft with a One95 blade (P92)

Really nice blade and the shaft is great for snapshots and wristers. I dont use it for slapshots though since it is a 77 flex, but maybe when I pick up a 85+ flex shaft this week, I'll try it out.

For those who went with the One95, did you have to go up in flex because of the kickpoint?

I didn't HAVE to, but I felt when moving from the xxxx to the one95 as though the one95 was slightly softer due to the kickpoint. I went up to a 106, but only because it became available to me, and not because I had to.

Ive been reading the difference between the two, and how many of you have experienced the lack of "kick" with the XXXX compared to the one95?

hmm? are you regarding to a vibration in your hands, or a shooting kick? like oomph?
