LS2.1 question

Recommended Posts

Hey,

looking at getting some new skates this week, currently have vapor xxxx with a 272 runner which was fitted when i bought them 18 months ago as they are a 7.5d and come with the 263. Now my question is im struggling to get my head around what the LS2.1 on the one 95 is? is it a slighter bigger tuuk? so if i was to get 7.5d in one 95's id be golden? as i dont fancy having to go through messing around with the runner if i was to get x60's in 7.5d.

If that is the case im considering getting x60's in a 8D as this comes with a 272 runner, realistically am i really gonna notice the 1/2 size differance just to get a 272 runner?

thoughts anyones?

ok, after a little googling, ive learnt that the ls2.1 has slightly longer steel. Think it may make up my mind for me ;)

There's nothing saying you can't get the skates that fit best (7.5D) AND throw on bigger holders. I have sz 7D skates with 272 holders on.

correct me if i'm wrong, i thought the 2.1 runner just has a larger radius and is the same length as the ls2 runner.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Think I'm gonna stick with the vapor 60's as don't think il get on with the stiffness of the 95's

try on half a size smaller then you'd normally would go for before purchasing as the x60's i've found to have a little more room then the vapor 40's!

3mm longer.

there's also an opinion out there that none of these extra 3mm actually touches the ice - it's all in the elevated parts of the heel-toe

the height of the steel is about 2-3mm less for 2.1

irrespective of the dimensions out of the box LS2.1 has 10' profile vs 8' for regular LS2

To the original poster:

You sound JUST like me! Same skate size and same love for the longer 272 holder.

I have a pair of 7D Vector Pros that I had put a 272 holder on for just the same reason as you are stating above. I have also gone with a 7.5 skate just for the holder size.

Now I am skating on CCM U+'s in size 7 which hugs my foot perfectly but luckily in the last few years CCM has made their size 7 skates include 271 (their closest to 272) size holders.

Since you are clearly a Bauer guy I would really (from experience) tell you to get the size that is proper for your foot (if that is a 7.5 bauer) and like someone above said just add the longer holder (get your LHS to mount them).

You will skate way better on the properly sized skate, especially with your preferred runner size.

If you are going to dish out the cash for top end skates you may as well spend a small amount more to have the proper fit matched with the proper blade size for you.

I was really happy when the Vector 10s came out and CCM had switched from a 263 to a 271 for size 7, saved me having to do the same switch anymore on any skates that I buy from CCM (which now is pretty much all I skate on).

Thanks. Good advice. Well ive decided to settle for the x60's in a 7.5d which will inevitably come with a 263, which at first il try but i know il wanna change. Being in the UK, LHS are a bit more hard to come buy in most citys, so the shops we do have at rinks etc, im almost certain none will have Tuuks and blades as general accessories for sale, which of course can then become costly with them bein a 'bespoke' item.

from experience, sourcing the correct size Tuuk, blade and fitting, can easily reach a cost of £70, about $100+
