Ballistik 52 caliber

Recommended Posts

Just got a 52 cal yesterday for a long term review. Very nice stick! Definitely feels like one of the lightest sticks out there, and is very, very well balanced.

I've been using one for 3-4 weeks, primarily shooting at some goalie clinics I help out with.

I agree - very light, and nicely balanced. Doesn't have that slight "hollow" feeling I get with other lighter sticks (the R8 and R10s come to mind).

Only problems so far has been slight delamination of the blade, but nothing too serious.

What’s the email for them? I tired calling and the person who answered the phone said she wasn't sure if you could order sticks over the phone or online. Tried transferring me to the "hockey guy" but he wasn't there. I'd like to pick up the .52 cal. Anyone making progress?

Just called today and they can't sell direct.

Hockeygiant is carying the 52 and they gave me the name of a Seatle store they new were carying them. first line pro hockey. I sent them an email to get prices.

They also said that any store that caries there bats can order you the stick.

It's realy a weird business model if you ask me. Your a new company to hockey, so it's got to be hard to get people to cary the product. Then the retailers jack up the price, so no one is willing to take a chance on the new stick until the reputation gets built. I'm assuming having a lot of pros use your stick will do that part (Warrior). You would think it would be better to sell it direct to keep the price down by cutting out the middle ma.

I've talked with guys at Compro and at least you can order directly though them.

The Seattle store you speak of will not have them in stock. Just FYI.

If you sell direct then you will struggle to get into any stores. No store will want to carry your stuff if you're selling it at a cheaper price and essentially undercutting them.

Damn, I've always ordered directly through them for my tapered shafts...As luck would have it, I just broke my first one this week...

That's my point. Why get into the stores until your name is well respected? I could be completely wrong on this and probably am, but to me it would seem better to get some pros to use your stick, some people on web-sites like this and sell them directly at a discounted rate. The more people using the stick, the more the name get's out there. When you finaly have a name and people are willing to drop $220 then go the traditional route. But maybe that's what Ballistic did do, because it sounds like they have been around for a while and they used to sell direct.

You obviously don't understand what I said. If a manufacturer sold gear at a discounted rate direct to the public then no store will agree to carry your product. The store wouldn't be able to compete with your direct pricing because they need to make a profit on the gear. You have to get into stores to generate interest from the public.

We've been carrying a small selection of their sticks for a few months now in order to see what the interest is. Everyone that has purchased one has been happy, but it seems like every other week I hear someone in the lockerroom talking about how they "know a guy" at the company who will get them X stick for for XX amount (where XX is an extremely low price a LHS could not possibly meet).

I normally wouldn't worry, except that some of these guys seem to have delivered. In the big picture it might not be a big deal, but it makes it hard for me to decide to continue/expand what we carry.

Anymore feedback about this stick?

Specifically, what are the shaft dimensions like? Boxy or rounded? How's the kick and puck feel?

Did you check the long term review section? I think 2 people have given reviews on them and talk about shape and kick etc.
