Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Finished reading Patrick Roy's Bio, written by his Dad Michel. Great read, he paints Patrick in a very diff way then the ESPN news clips do of him flying off the handle. Also, after I read Bruce Boudreau's Bio: "Gabby: Confessions of a Hockey Lifer" some seriously funny true stories in that book. He comes accross as such a great coach too. NextBobbyOrr 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 The Code is a brilliant book. You can't go wrong. I'm also gonna throw in Hockey Tough by I think Saul Miller. Just goes about the mental aspect of hockey. It actually really helped me out for playing. Just the types of things that I found made a pretty big difference. And I know a few more, can't remember. I'll come back for them later.

meteor 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Here's another thumbs-up for Dave King's book about his experiences coaching in Russia. He gives insight on their player development, cultural differences and attitudes, along with interesting and often exasperating anectdotes about what it's like to live there. Ken Dryden's book "The Game" also spends a chapter exploring the emergence of world-class Russian hockey.I recently read Todd Denault's thoroughly researched account of Jacque Plante's life:http://www.amazon.com/Jacques-Plante-Chang.../dp/0771026331/Too many of these player bios make excessive use of the word `legendary' and this book is no exception. That said, Denault covers both the good and bad in the story of a fascinating man who was thoroughly and completely obsessed with becoming the world's best goaltender.
