halfsheild?

so im got asked to a nahl tryout. should i wear my halfsheild or a cage? what do most guys wear at the tryout?

I think you should wear what you feel comfortable with. Im not sure if this applies to you, but some people play differently when starting to use a half shield (more timid imo). And since this is a tryout, you want to be able to play at your best and wearing what you're most comfortable with surely help.

With the way people lead with their hands (then follow through high) when hitting, I would be wearing a cage.

I would wear a cage, regardless of the rules, in almost any situation. The little extra edge you get from going without one is not worth the possible wasted time and money in dental work, if you are not playing professionally.

Which ever you feel most comfortable with. You will see both. Not sure of NAHL rules but if you are 18 or younger, you may be required to wear a full cage. During such tryouts, alot of coaches will mandate that if you fight, both players must remove helmets first, regardless of shield or cage.

i'm just going wear the cage because i'm more comfortable with it, ive only worn the halfy to a couple beer league games.

and "in da crease", i was invited by the Bismarck bobcats

A lot of guys fear getting hit the face when they start playing with the halfy or nothing. Going into a tryout you probably don't want to be dealing with that, so I'd recommend the cage.

If you stick to a few exhibition games, they will probably lend you a half shield. I agree, if all you are used to is the full shield, don't be changing now. Concentrate on other more important stuff, like being the best, standing out, making smart decisions, seeing the ice, hustling back to the bench each and every shift end (especially when you are dog tired), etc.

There will probably be an off ice part to the tryout. Make sure you can run 2 miles, do at least 12 chinups, work on your bench press, etc.
