New curve wanted

Recommended Posts

I've been using an Ovechkin blade for a bit and I want to get a new pattern. I'm trying to work on my wrist shot, slap shot and general stickhandling. I've liked the openness of the Ovechkin but don't know if I need the openness since it seems in my league more goals are scored waist height down. I play wing. What would anyone suggest I try?

hamrlik/zetterberg/tkachuk/etc everybody makes a pm9 clone

I like PM9s, Iginlas, pro Kariyas, and stuff like that - Im a fan of smaller neutral curves I'd guess you could say.

i use the ovechkin pattern on all my ccm's, but have really been using the p106 gagne on my one95's lately and am hooked on that pattern.

I second that. It was a great pattern, i had it on my one95 as well. I would have liked to tone it down a bit but if you like moderate/deepish mid curves its perfect. My shot was never harder then it was with a one95 with a Gagne, however it was just too big/not enough toe for stick handling.

What pattern would give some of the P106 with a bit more toe for the stick handling? And I heard that hardly any pros use a PM9 style curve that has been mentioned. Why is that?

Phil Kessel's pro pattern

the p106 is a heel, and if you want more toe... you are looking at a "heel and toe" curve, which you won't find at retail.

for the toe, look for moderate mids like p88Lindros(Bauer), Iginla(Easton), Recchi(CCM), or Datsyuk(RBK) and compare it with the p106.

as for the pm9, I'm not sure what aspect of it you are pointing to, but Crosby's curve is famous for being "moderate", if you know what I mean

A lot of pros use curves similar to a PM9. Only Drury style curves are more popular than Modano style blades.

I found a PM9 wood blade lying in my closet. I'll put that in and see how that works at this weeks game. Maybe then I'll pick up a P88, Tavares, or Iginla to try later. It is hard to find a P106 locally in AZ.
