Black S17 Skate

Recommended Posts

I'm not a big fan of the stitching up the middle of the tongue. That's the type of thing that really bothers people that skate barefoot.

I agree with you on the white tongues. Those are pretty sweet for an all black skate, although I'd still opt for the white SE16 or S15's

From what I've been told a white version of the S17 will be out in February, so that should be pretty sweet

I got an email a couple weeks ago for these skates. They are the S17 LE model. I can't remember which online retailer sent me the email though. I'm pretty sure they're available now...unless that email was for a pre-order or something.

Nano Glide™ steel will not be released with the skates this year. Easton is holding off until further testing is complete.

do you have any idea if this nano glide compares to step steel? same type of thing

I'm betting there was more negative feedback from LHS folks than they expected on the tougher to sharpen steel.

If they are going to continue testing, they may very well change the formulation between now and the time it is released.

The bottom line is that there is no point in rushing the product to the market place if it is not, in fact, perfect. Easton has only one chance to get it right with the steel. Screw it up on a holiday launch and the steel is a dead end product forever. Obviously, for awhile, Easton thought it was market ready. Luckily, they took a step back before they rushed it. I also doubt any LHS chatter had anything to do with Easton's decision.

At this point anything is better than the parabolic steel the came on the s15, either way when i get them i'm swapping out for LS2 setup

The parabolic steel has been around for a good bit before the S15.

I've been digging the parabolics on my SE16s. The only adjustment I had to make was going from my usual 9' radius to 8'.
