custom wood blades pref easton

Recommended Posts

does anyone know any easton reps (doesnt really have to be easton) in vancouver or bc that i can talk to get custom blades made?

or does anyone know a store that does them for a reasonable price. I had stocked up on dozens of wood blades from my junior days and finally ran out and am looking to purchase more. any leads would be helpful.

thanks

thehockeyshop.com has a spot on their website under wood blades to custom order easton blades. if i recall correctly it was around 38 dollars and a minimum order of 12 blades. may be worth a shot

I've got a couple Easton Pro Custom blades. Really stiff and nice. But $38 is really expensive. I'm in Montreal, place by my house does Easton custom blades for $26 minimum 12. I'd continue looking around for a better deal.

thanks for the insight guys.. i came back from few shops today. cyclones in oak street doesnt do em anymore cus there are no market for them. ya i talked to guys at ice level sports in richmond and they said its gonna be around $40 a blade. What the companies are trying to do is to get rid of wood products all togather. also if i were to purchase these wood blades itd cost me more that custom graphite which is ridiculous. im leaning toward buying dozens of standard easton wood blades (easton pro(cheapest and lightest)) such as iginla or sakic and purchasing a machine called PROCURVE and curving them myself. the machines only 50 dollars and i get a consistent curve and fresher blade because it allows you to measure your curve and such. i think the website is at procurve.ca. this might be a better and a cheaper option for anyone trying to go custom wood. i would miss the ash made custom pros tho.. nothing beat the feel of those blades.

I should be getting my dozen batch anytime now (order it about 10 weeks ago, but Easton has 2 weeks downtime) from Cyclone Taylor in Coquitlam. They said its usually about 30 something but they have never seen any of them get over 40. And im getting 12 custom wood Spezza clones, they even increased the lie for me.

They'll do anything if you're willing to pay.

They did it with no extra charge, i wanted them tapered but that was an extra $10per.

How long do wood blades usually last? If I practice 2 times and play 2 games a week, how long should i expect it to last?

Also, is it possible to shave down a standard wooden blade so it can fit into a tapered shaft? I know there are tapered wooden blades but my LHS doesn't carry them.

BUMP

is this still available?

update: I just got an update from the hockey shop, 31.00 per blade for replica of this blade.

http://s638.photobucket.com/albums/uu101/w...nt=P1010472.jpg

didn't think I would like this blade, it's long (longer than my forsberg retail) and is narrower in height and pretty much straight (slight heel curve)

but it's awesome, the best feeling of any blade I've ever used, if I can I want to get a dozen of these blades made up.

Does anyone know the lie that Weight uses? This might be a one-off, but I think it's pretty high, at least 5.75 or six, so I'll have to change that, I think I'll need about a 4.5

What patterns are you looking for? I have a crapload of unused Easton Pro Custom blades. A lot of the shops around here will order a bunch of the popular patterns in wood..I have Yzerman, B14(Bauer P14), Heatly etc. etc

Not wearing the tape at the heel would suggest you are wearing tape at the toe which would suggest you need a HIGHER lie, not lower. Low lie = larger angle between the blade and shaft

usually, but there is no wear anywhere on the blade and I tape directly from the heel of the blade.

my skating posture is a lot like crosby's (though I've been doing it longer than him, but not better), last time I checked he's rocking a 4.5 or so, normally at retail you can't find that low of a lie.

I've tried forsbergs and other 5 lie blades and at best I'll wear the first wrap of tape on the blade (from heel)

Anyone know of a place where you can order custom Easton wood blades (besides The Hockey Shop)?

Any Easton dealer should be able to handle your order.
