Pant comparable to old Rbk 6k

Recommended Posts

I've been using the Rbk 6k model for a few years now...I don't remember what years model they are. I believe they are the first year that Rbk came out with the pant/girdle combo thing (which I love).

Are any of the new Rbk pants similar in that they have the whole pant/girdle thing going, with the individual thigh guards? After some searching it seems that everyone liked the old style better, but I don't know if thats just because how they look, or if they feel different entirely?

The 2008 RBK 9k pants were like that. Adjustable thigh pads, girdle and shell.

I tried them in store and they never felt right for me, they're also very heavy.

True, they felt terrible. They took the amazing reebok 8k pants and added a bunch of gimmicky crap and colors to them. The 8k was a lot like the 6k, however the newer ones are completely ruined. I say your best bet is picking up 8k's as ive seen a few still around or go the girdle / shell combo.

I'm very happy with the Easton S15 Motion girdle/shell system I have now. They're on clearance at several places because the new Motion Elite pants are out...from what I read in the Easton Catalogue thread the new ones are very similar, but have beefed up tail bone protection. If you're a medium I also noticed that the Mission NME Nine-1 pants are a girdle/shell combo. I believe they're on hockeymonkey at a clearance price, but they only have medium.

From what I can see on the web, the current RBK 7K pant is basically an update to the older 6K model. This is from one of the vendor's websites:

"Unlike many pads on the market the 7K ice pant features fully adjustable thigh guards. You can determine how tight around the leg they fit as well as how far down they rest. The length adjustment is limited to the length of the shell because that is not adjustable. However, if you prefer a shorter thigh guard or having issues catching the bottom of the pants on the shin guards this feature can be vary helpful."

Which describes the 6K exactly. The pictures look like it has been beefed up around the hip area a bit.

I went from 6K to 9K 2 years ago and am thinking of picking up some 7K as the 9K are wearing out. They are a good pant, but pretty fragile in my experience - I have had to sew various pieces back together every few months.

Sounds like the 7k might be a good call. Or the 8k if I can find some in my size in black.

I've sewed these up way to many times.
