Easton s17 skates

Recommended Posts

I am trying to do a bit of research on my next pair of skates.

If anyone knows.......

Are the s17 Black version going to be coming out in wide sizes? If so, when?

Are the wide sizes the same as the old s15 R sizes?

Does anyone have any experience in how the s17 is holding up durability wise? (Thanks Mike for your input via PM)

I have tried on the s12 in 8.5, and it fit noting at all like the s15. Anyone know if the s17 will be the exact same fit as the s15? I ask because no one has the s17 and I may have to order it online.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

ive had my S17's since august, and i have had no problems with durability. they are a somfortable skate once baked properly. as far as fit goes; my buddy had S15's in a 7.5R and he got S17s in a 7.5 R, he said he finds the fit to be the same.

i'll ask him again when i see him at the rink today and can confirm it tonight :)

I've had my S17's since the beginning of june playing twice a week and have had absolutely no durability issues to speak of. Very comfortable skates, mine felt great out of the box so I didn't even have them baked.

Can't help you out with sizing, sorry.

I had the intention of pm'ing you Eric, then I saw the thread, two players on my team have gone directly from S15's to S17's and haven't changed the sizing whatsoever, and one of them had tuuks put on without trouble. I've had mine since mid august and have had not problems with the durability. Still hate the holders though

I just finished trying on the Black S17's at my local PIAS since I was picking up a pair of shoulder pads, remembered this thread and thought what the hell, why not. I've had my S15's for two years now, been through hell and back a few times, and they're on their last legs. The fit is IDENTICAL, and true to sizing from the S15's. Size 8 straight to a size 8. Cannot stress that enough. Absolutely the same.

When I have enough $$$, I'll be picking a pair up.

Does anyone know if the Black s17's will be available in WIDE sizes? All I see is R.

I've got a pair of custom black on the way...my LHS guy ordered the standard W width, so I would assume you can get them retail.

I have had my S17's for 6 months and I have had no problems with durability. The skates hold up very well. I would agree with previous posts about sizing, it is the same as the S15.

I saw the skate on Sunday in my LHS. I am not a huge fan of the way the Stealth skates look with the reflective and shiny parts like the composite. I like plain looking skates. But as the Stealth is the only skate that fits well, I am stuck with it. That being said, I absolutely love the all Black s17 a million times more than the regular silver skate. It looks great. I tried on an 8.5 R s17, and my toe was jammed into the toecap. Do you think the 8.5W will be different?

It is odd that the fit was so different. There is no way that I could fit into the 8.5R s17....yet my 8.5R s15's fit me perfectly.

Your current skates are pro-stock, correct?

Yes, but I had the retail s15's before that, and the fit was exact. I think Easton uses the same retail composite last, and then builds custom add-ons. At least that is the case with my skates.

I have tried on the s15 before and about a week ago when I was in vaughn mills ( pro hockey life) trying on some skates I had the chance trying the s17 and from what I can tell it seemed a bit more shallow and I had the same issue with the toe cap.

I don't have a pair of S17's, but from my experiences with Easton skates, they are extremely consistent with their sizing. I went from a pair of 1500c from a few years back, to a pair of S15 2 weeks ago without trying them on. Minus the strange tongue which I swapped out and the footbed, I felt like I was skating on my 1500c's when they were new.

alright so ive been looking at some new skates. i had s15's and have recently been in one75's. i had one major problem that i know everyone with s15's had, but that is the toe cap falling apart. have they fixed that problem for this year?

The newest ones have vibram toecaps. The older S17s and Se16s have a supposedly more durable rubber.

It's pretty well fixed on the latest generation. Though the rubber toecaps on my easton skate from the generation prior to yours have been easily fixed by a lighter and pushing the torn rubber back in place.

I felt very distinct differences between the Synergy and Stealth lines....in those exact skates.

What did you feel?

A very distinct difference. Dur.

bit off topic.. ive not seen it discussed as much as vapor vs supreme, what are the differences in fit between the 2 easton lines? i had a pair from the synergy line a little while ago and the fit was great. I assume stealths would not fit me, but if someone could enlighten me as to the different fits that would be great.

The Synergy has a lower cut boot than the Stealths. Not by much, but it is noticeable. Also, the Synergy seems to have a more plush feel to the inside of the boot. Other than that, they are pretty much the same as far as fit goes so if a Stealth fit great then a Synergy would as well. It's just a matter of which model you like better.

Hope this helps

Hmm I don't know if this fact is true but, when I was at pro hockey life trying on some hand ask ysame question the guy just said " synergy line was more for comfort and the stealths were aimed for performance?" ?

Didn't I just say that the Synergys feel more plush?? See my statement above. What I meant about fit is that they both fit the same kind of feet.

That's easton's mode of operation with skates and protective gear. They're made to fit in pretty much the same manner, but they're different types of equipment. The synergy stuff is built to be a tank, the stealth is lightweight and high performance. Compare the shoulders for instance. If I had to pick a pair of shoulders to wear while being hit by a truck, I would want something close to the Synergy line. If I was running an obstacle course, I would want the stealths.
