Does GRAF ever change their skates

Recommended Posts

I am trying to sell a new pair of 705's purchased this spring, so I am assuming they were from winter 08. A guy on Ebay asked me if they are the "new" models.

So from last spring, would they change?

I'd like to give the person as good an answer as possible.

Here's the link if anyone has insight as to exactly how old the skates are I'd appreciate it

thanks in advance.

Yes they did over a period of time. The newer ones had the clear outsole overlasing a Texallium look underlay whereas the older ones had an opaque cream colored outsole.

PS- No need to thank me before I answered the question :P

They did go about adding an outsole that liked to separate, I presume this is for airflow. They also update their customer service automatic response from "We could possibly help you but you already paid" to "Screw off."

Oh, they have red colored leather now.

Definitely a G-Supra-series issue. I haven't seen any similar problems with the Ultras...or the 7-series skates with the new outsole, for that matter. That said, after the experience I had with several pairs of G-Supra-series skates, I'll likely never put my feet in a pair of Grafs again.

Also, most of the new 7-series skates I've seen have the AirNet liner as opposed to the old leather.

Yes going forward Graf has finally listened to retailers and consumers on there skates in them letting GRAF know that there skate gets very heavy over time with moisture absorption which was addressed with the AirNet liner. The other key feature they fixed was the toe cap because the old toe cap was very narrow and shallow in depth where as you should note on your skates the toe cap is much wider and deeper compared to an older which you can notice here. So to be honest your skate is a brand new 2009 model when it was produced and you should note these features so people looking at your item are well aware and so you should get better money for them as they look in incredible condition.

They also updated to a new version of the cobra runner holder.

The AirNet liner is one of the biggest reasons I never pulled the trigger on a pair of the ultra G skates. It just isn't as comfortable for skating barefoot.

^There's an easy solution for that...

Yep, didn't buy them. When I skate with socks on, I use very thin sani socks and that liner rips them up like a cheese-grater.
