Blade Bender?

a proshop at a rink i practiced at had a machine that (supposedly) bent skate blades horrizontally (not the rocker, the other way) . Can anyone verify if this indeed is possible and what effects it has on skating? it was also rumoured that Paul Coffey had this done

Yes, if you overcompensate, you can warp the blade the other way.

well my right skate has a small bend near the tow of the skate what wold eb the best way to fix it ?

that steel bender is a good way to do it, but only in knowledgeable hands

It's a Blademaster product, comes as an accessory to their skate sharpeners. It mounts on the right side of the machine, just under the tabletop. The only real problem with the blade straightener is that it's only a temporary fix. Once steel is bent, it's going to bend again even if it's been straightened. And unfortunately it doesn't really do much for improperly-mounted blades. If your steel's bent out of the box, the only way to fix it is to take off the holders and remount them.

edit... and as Buzz said, it must be used by trained hands. It's very easy to snap a blade in half, I've done it twice.
