Pain on side/arch

Recommended Posts

I circled the general area of where I get pressure on the inside of my foot. It is just below where a small bone sticks out a little on the inside of my feet. I feel it on both feet. The pressure subsides some as a game/practice goes on but not completely. I have put Superfeet grey in but not much improvement. Anyone have an idea what is causing this and possible solutions? I loosened my laces some already and no difference. Should I rebake them? Is it a width issue and need stretched or punched? Thanks for the help.

Could you tell us what skate/model and what size your foot is? Also, if you could provide us with an overhead shot, it would help understand the nature of the beast that is your foot!

I think this is called Plantar Fasciitis. I am likely spelling it wrong.

In layman's terms, it is often referred to as a heel spur. I used to walk to work (about 1 mile each way) in dress shoes and found my foot was hurting. Switching to better shoes (or more recently just bicycling / roller blading) has improved my situation quite a bit.

Do you only feel the pain when skating?

Further experimentation adjusting your laces could provide results, but it may just be that you have another foot problem or an incorrectly sized skate.

Visiting a doctor is probably in your best interest.

Skate is U+ Pro, size 8.5 Left/8.25 Right, C/AA. I have a low instep, C-D width and normal arch. Never had any issues with other skates, ski boots, etc. I have no issue with heel spur, just the side/upper arch.

Not so sure it's plantar fasciitis being on the side like that. I had a very similar issue with my G3 normal width Graf's. They felt wonderful... until I stepped on the ice. There was almost an unbearable pain in nearly the same area on both of my feet as you show. The solution was to punch out that area on both boots. End of the problem. Thus my recent acquisition of a pair of Graf 703's in the wide width. I was able to sharpen them, lace them up, and off I went right away. Didn't bake them or do anything else. The slight increase in width was all it took. I personally would opt to have that area punched out on your current skates first before spending the money for another pair.

Definitely not Plantar Fasciitis, you'd have pain on the bottom of your foot, just in front of where heel spurs would occur.

I would guess that it is a width issue. I tried a pair of CCM's on when I was skate shopping, and I immediately had a sharp pain in the exact area you circled.

When I first got my new pair of X:shifts ( smu for X:50) and first time stepping on the ice trying to break them in I got the exact spot of pain. Unlaced it let the pain go away and relace. After breaking them in the pain was gone but I was considering punching it out. Punching it out would probably be your best issue like Too Old said. I don't think its a bone either because on my pair of duck feet its just a bump that sticks out..

Hey, you're the one with the magical foot JR was looking for!

I would try rebaking them first. If that doesn't work I would go ahead and punch it out.

Yep...that was the boot made for my foot.

I have no issues in that spot of my boots. They fit like a glove...with these I had to switch out of superfeet and into shock docktors...I have a higher arch and the shock uses a higher arch. The stock insoles I chucked as soon as I saw them.

I think I have the same problem with my Bauer Vapor XVIs...tried rebaking them and have a set of Superfeet yellow insoles in them, only to have pretty much the same problems. I'm thinking about getting a pair of Bauer Supremes, though at this rate, I'd probably be better off waiting until they are rebadged next year as opposed to having the Nike Bauer label they have now. I've heard that the Vapor line runs narrower than the Supremes; also, any word on how the Flexlite series fits?

I had them rebaked for a 3rd time for a longer time 6 min @175 degrees like some other U+ users had done. I also switched out my Superfeet for the Shockdoctors like MLSman did in his U+'s and they are much better. No pain initially, felt a little pressure early in my game but as game progressed it went away. Think the problem is fixed. Thanks!

Which version of the Shock Doctor footbeds did you go with? I have the same issue with my CCM U+'s.

I got the hockey version. They were only like $16 or $17. They sell them online at icewarehouse & some other places.
