Help on 2 Piece sticks

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

I need a quick lesson on 2 piece sticks. When I was a kid I had a Easton aluminum stick which I would buy the replacement blades for. But I see now so many different companies offer shafts and blades and was wondering are they all interchangeable with each other? Can a Easton shaft for example accept a bauer or other company blade or vice versa, things have really changed stick wise since I last played regularly. Also I assume I would have to purchase plugs to bring the stick length to my desired length. And is a heat gun safe to use on composite sticks ( thats what I used on the aluminum )

any help would be great guys

Thanks

Jeremy

Generally, any tapered blade will fit any tapered shaft and any standard blade will fit any standard shaft. There may be some instances where you will need to tweak the blade to fit properly, but it shouldn't be a big deal. Plugs to extend the length of your stick is OK, a lot of people do it. Heat guns are safe to use on composite shafts, just make sure you don't over heat it. It will damage the shaft and cause it to break prematurely.

He pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I used an Easton blade (s15 maybe?) with a one95 shaft for a little bit, no problems at all.

thanks for helping me clear that up, another question kinda. I remember also that sometimes that when I got a replacement blade there didnt seem to be enough glue on it, in that case what kind of glue should I use?

thanks again

You can buy special stick glue from your LHS or you can just use the glue sticks that you would use in a glue gun, should work out a bit cheaper and will do the job just fine.

Pretty much yeah. If you look at a standard shaft dimensions, go about your business for a day then look at a tapered shaft somewhere else you might not notice but if you held a tapered shaft to a standard one or a standard shaft and a tapered blade next to each other it'll be pretty obvious they wont be playing nicely together.

cheers for the help, just out of curiousity would they work together though? does anybody use standard shafts with tapered blades?

I've 'shaved' down a standard blade to fit into a tapered shaft no problem, but it would not work the other way.
