Problem with my Graf 705's

Recommended Posts

I just tried the ruler trick and the ruler was just barely touching the top of my foot by a very small amount, but definitely not to the point where my foot was sticking up far enough so I could wobble the ruler from side to side even just a little bit.

What do you think I should do now that you guys are aware of the information I just posted?

BTW I really appreciate all of the help from everyone!

i think you need a different boot, even though you can wobble it just abit. You more so want your foot to keep even with the cut of the boot. So when doing the ruler test you want to be touching the boot area and a finger underneath the ruler you dont want too hit your foot first before hitting the boot.

Wow, so what you're saying is that there should actually be enough room for me to be able to stick my entire finger between the top of my foot and the ruler which is flush/even with the third eyelets?

You want to be able to get a tiny bit of your finger between the ruler and your foot.

Hopefully you like a very low cut skate with very little stiffness. Mine were OK but just a little sloppy.

sorry chad but its not a low cut ankle system. it has a higher ankle then the 703 since it is deeper so it will hugg his ankles n support them better. Also whats so bad about having a fairly soft lining skate? brian leetch wears a 501 same one i hear. The 727 is a very good boot

The boot is shorter at the ankle than any other I've used, or tried on for that matter. There's nothing wrong with a skate with soft lining, I don't recall saying there was. I also like skates that aren't very stiff, I was just letting him know that is was a very different boot. Mine didn't fit my foot and were sloppy, that's why I dumped mine.

I did the ruler thing with my skates and now I really know that my pro tacks dont fit right. Is the vector a deeper fitting skate.

Not in my opinion... I remember the tops of my feet sticking out so far on my vectors that I could almost see my sock between the tongue and the eyelts. Granted you might not have arches like mine, but I don't think they're that deep.

Deeper than PT I think...but not by much.

Is the 8090 deeper or what should I look at. The PT is way off. When I did the ruler trick it would wobble quite a bit. This is probably why my tounges move alot

My Graf 727's came today and man, you weren't kidding when you said they were cut very low! They were cut almost about 1/3rd of an inch above my actual ankle, there was virtually zero ankle support at all. When I had them on they felt like some really beat up rental skate with a ton of wear... very sloppy.

Needless to say I am sending them back and just exchanging them for something that I already know works well for me, CCM Pro Tacks in a size 7.5 E width :).

Also, i've just got to say that http://www.hockeygear.com is the greatest online hockey store, their customer service is awesome and they've been very flexible and have gone out of there way above and beyond to help me out dealing with my skate problems, I highly recommend them to anyone.

Whenever you can't get a good feel and fitting of a skate in question, you are always taking a big risk.  JR is right..Going to a good pro shop usually wins in the end.

I wish I had a good pro shop to go to, lol.

Living in Florida sucks, there are literally no shops down here in South Florida with any top of the line equipment or skates in stock and the few shops that do carry skates only carry a couple sizes or junior sizes only. I used to live in Buffalo and Great Skate was my LHS, it was so nice being able to just go down there and get anything I needed, I never started online ordering until I moved to Florida.

JR: I'm definitely going to make a trip up to your shop one day when there is pickup hockey :D.
