I got to see him play against the Marlies a couple of weeks ago - it was a real treat. He dominated the game with his head. He was constantly teaching - not just communicating, but actually teaching the younger Wolves' players, even during the play. He used intelligent leverage to absolutely manhandle guys half his age with four inches and forty pounds on him; nobody could get through him to the net. There was one sequence during which he cleanly and legally ragdolled Andre Deveaux twice in about twenty seconds, behind and in front of the net. He was so good at managing time and space that he played three-and-a-half straight minutes of five-on-three in the overtime - never came off the ice, even as the guys around him were totally gassed.

My only regret was that they didn't roll him in the shootout, just for kicks.

That guy should be the example for every young player looking to learn what the game is all about. The Wolves are very lucky to have him.

I think we both went to the same game right ? The one where there was something like 6 or 7 shooters for each team ?

I was waiting for the shootout to go through the entire roster and they would be forced to use Chelios.

Friend of mine got to meet him yesterday and was more than excited, lol. I told him to make sure and discuss his days with the good team... and not the Hawks!

Chelios and the Wolves are in town tomorrow night to play the Bulldogs. Can't miss that game.

I believe we were. I was sitting a couple rows back, beside the Wolves' bench; great spot to listen to the lecture. :)

Just got back from the Wolves/Bulldogs game. Chelios played all the PK's and held his own. Then took time to sign every autograph at the end of the game despite losing the game. Classy.

The local news is doing a piece on Chelios now and the local paper did the same. He is certainly generating the headlines for playing pro hockey at his age. Gives us old guys some inspiration.

I was there too. Been looking for a TOI report. He played a lot. He had to have been on every other shift...all night long. Quick shifts mind you, the man IS 47.

Didn't see anything spectacular...no points...but a solid night. I noticed that he talked ALOT...to the refs/linesman. Always coaching...yelling directions...and placement on the PK/PP/5-5.

After that penalty he took he took some time to talk to the refs after the Bulldogs scored on the pp. Couldn't help thinking that he has seen so much more hockey than the AHL refs and wondered what he was schooling them in. Certainly, the elder statesman on the ice.

He didn't "take" a penalty....that was the worst phantom call I've ever seen live! *L* His stick was no where near the Dogs feet/skates. He jsut fell down!
