Looking for new skates. Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Currently have graf 727's. Love the skates, but they are 10yrs old and have over 1000+ ice times on them. I also have wide feet.

Also I want something that doesn't gain 5lbs after every skate like the 727's do. They tend to hold some water weight.

Also I skate barefoot loaded with baby powder.

Any mission skate!!!!!! I love the XP's

So you think a tall, stiff skate is a good match with one of the softest boots on the market? Didn't think I was going to get to use this so soon.

Back on topic, you might want to look into the Mission Fuel AGs or S series, they are stiff around the foot but have a lot of flex in the ankles. You're probably going to be an EE in the Missions if you wore the 727. Pretty sure I was the same size in both skates, though the Grafs were slightly larger. I would guess that the difference is 1/4 size or so.

I wouldn't mind something a little stiffer. I'm about 5'10 and 200lbs. What skates have you tried chadd? I 'm going down tomorrow to try some one. Just trying to get an idea of what I should be trying so I'm not in there all day.

I've had Mission, Graf, RBK, CCM, Salming and Kor skates over the last ten years or so. Almost bought a pair of 8090s but never had a pair of bauers that felt right to me.

I wasn't happy with how soft my 727s were, I only used them for a couple months. Even after a couple years, my oldest pair of S500s is stiffer than my 727s were. Most new skates are extremely stiff compared to the 727s. The other thing you will find it that most boots are taller as well, you'll probably feel more comfortable with at least one eyelet unlaced. The AG/S series skates will be much stiffer than your 727s, but are much softer than anything outside the 700 line.

That said, try on as much as you can. You may find that something fits your foot so well that you're willing to deal with a stiffer skate.

An Easton might fit you well if you dont need the volume. The se16's are 250 dollars on hockeymonkey... I actually ordered some this morning! Hopefully the depth isnt a issue. Good luck!

Okay I went and tried on skates. The one95's fit good. Only thing is the $700cdn price tag. Also when are the totalones going to be out?

If you don't like the price on the one95s you really won't like the price of the TotalOnes...

You could always see if the place you tried them on will price match. They may not come all the way down but if they do it would likely cost less than H.M. with the fees/duties and the cost to have them baked locally. Never hurts to ask, the worst they say is no.

But he might like the new price of the One95's.

I believe they release in Spring.

I have been looking for a pair of ONE95's in a 10EE to replace my Vapor XX's. The 575 is right around the best I have been able to do so far. I am not sure how much they will come down in price as the new models are relased.

Fingers crossed we can both find cheaper if we can hold on for another month and a half

My LHS has senior size ONE95's for $475, which was good enough for me to pick up a pair even though I already had the CCM U+ Pro.

My local Scheel's has the regular X:60 for $460 for the past few weeks.
