Cups

I have the Jock plus spandex shorts with the cup. It is nice as it actually contours a bit instead of being bi and bulky like the standard ones

Anyone try the Ultra Carbon Flex Cup by Shock Doctor? It looks like a light, breathable option. Not sure how it would hold up to a puck beam though.

I actually use this cup with the RBK Short/Jock combo. Much softer around the edges than the cup in the RBK. You can also look at a cup called the nutty buddy, i use that when I am doing thai kick boxing.

Came with my SD jock, seems to work pretty well. I don't notice it while I'm wearing it, so apparently comfortable enough.

I use one of these for playing softball. Light and breathable, I think it would hold up fine to impact (I trust it) but I have never taken a hard enough shot it the junk to test it.

I use the RBK 6K compression shorts, jock combo. Really comfortable and great protection with a cup that uses the padded edges. Very nice fit.

+2 for the WSI shorts. I have the relaxed fit ones and they look like simple nylon basketball/board shorts. They aren't mess but polyester so you don't have the holes.

What does the WSI stand for or who makes them?

I use a one95 large shinpad attached to a pair of shorts.

The shockdoctors arnt great .. lets just say, ill be lucky to have children some day after the blast i took to it. The protection is basically just the center plate as the rest is rubber, however it interferes with your legs less as it flexes a little.

Which model in particular are you referring to? I can see how that could be a problem. SD cups seem to be a lot more engineered towards kickboxing and sports like that.

I've got the JOC shorts as well. Very nice, have held up for a long time. Just noticed the garter attachments for the standard velcro shorts, might have to get that.
