Where to buy jofa elbows?

Recommended Posts

How is it possible to get your hands on some jofa elbow pads?

Are they extinct? They must still make them for the pros do they not?

Any chance you might find some at a Play it Again?

With PIAS there's always a chance that you'll find some nice stuff. Before it burned down, arson, the local PIAS was The Place for quality hockey equipment. Not sure about the ones in your area, but you can try, it's like the lottery.

Scour the internet and eBay. But it's tough going trying to find them anymore. A tip here led me to a place in NZ that had 2 pr left of the 9044's in size 5 so I grabbed a set. Sometimes you can luck out and find a place with old inventory or a person willing to part with them. It's tough to get good old gear like that anymore. I'd consider myself very luck to have found elbows and a set of 8700 shoulders.

Probably won't help anyone here, but the last time I was at the PIAS in Virginia Beach next to Chilled Ponds, they had a few 5044 in sizes 5 and 6. Not sure if they are still in stock, this was a month and a half ago. Maybe if you gave them a call they might ship a pair, but i highly doubt it.

I was at a store today that had Rbk 8k's for a good deal, i ended up buying a pair in size 6 and they have 4 size 7's left. The last Jofa i seen were a month ago at a Sportcheck which were all size 5's but the elastic straps were streched, they had they 9177, 9044 and 8077.

thanks for the response everyone! ive been looking on ebay for the last year and no 5044s in size 5 have turned up. thats what i really want to go for. sadly im in vancouver, canada so there is no pias here.

ill keep looking around used sporting goods stores

on a side note 2 weeks ago i was at cyclone taylor sports and they had some rbk 8k pros there. they had the extended cuff on them so i elected not to get them. i also found that they fit really big. anyone with any experience on these?

I've been using a pair. They do fit a bit big. If I didn't wear 4 rolls, the extended cuffs would definitely get in the way of my gloves.

How many of you really need extended cuffs?

with the length of my arms and how short most gloves are these days, i could really use the extended forearm protection from 9177s

Just a curious question how does the sizing work for jofa's  ?

Size 4 is a small, 5 is a medium, 6 is a large. Length between a 5 and a 6 is negligible- It's the depth. I was constantly adjusting 6's- in 5's the point of my elbow stays right in the cap. I'm about 6' average size arms.

i don't need it need it, but my wrist are really skinny so the extended part doesn't hinder my mobility, so i opted for more protection as you can never have enough :P

I have fairly long arms as well. How many of you guys get slashed on a regular basis in beer league?

thanks to the amount of hacks in my league, it happens fairly often to me. i have used the slip on wrist guards but would like something that stays put better

I wore those Jofas with the extended cuffs, can't remember right now if they were 9177s or another number. Eventually I decided they were to bulky and now wear 6Ks which I think are like the 5044s? shown in that one eBay link. Same great protection in a fall but not quite so tank-like.

My warriors' cuffs are so short I needed some sort of protection. slash guards bothered me.

The refs in our league dont call hand fouls.....ever. Before the extensions (ans even sometimes with them!) I was getting bruises and cuts on my wrists regularly. Now its just in the underside whee the pads come together.

Beer league=hack league!
