NYRSinceBirth 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 So the Eagle itch is getting to me, and I want to try one of their gloves. I'm looking for anything with MSH2, but first a little background on what I use/like:Vapor XXX: My favorite glove. Love the cuff, love the fingers, love the palm area. I usually clip the elastic/padding on the wrist (near the palm) for more flexibility on my top hand, not on these though. Flex thumb rocks on this glove.Bauer 4 Rolls: A little bulky, but I love the soft, comfortable padding and the room. The cuff is great, but I clipped the elastic on the under part of the cuff on the top hand for better mobility. Flex thumb is good, but not as good as the XXX.TPS R8: Fingers are a little tight, but I like how it feels. The cuff is about as tight as I'd go, but I had to clip some material to allow the lower cuff to become a flap, again, for more mobility.Harrow 300: Fingers are way too short and too tight. Palm was OK, wasn't a huge fan of the thumb but I didn't mind it. The cuff was fantastic, clipped the elastic on these too.I mainly prefer an open cuff, that's my biggest thing. I've tried on SE6 gloves and liked the cuff a lot and the glove overall. I usually modify the lower cuff for mobility, as you can see. Fingers I don't mind if their tight or loose, palm I don't mind if their snug but prefer at least a little room. I also prefer a flex thumb, but can live without it. I have tighter cuff gloves like the Supremes, XXXX, S19, etc. Outside the cuff I'm not super picky, just have preferences (After seeing pictures of the Eagles, I realize I'm going to have to clip some material like I did on the R8's). Now my question, which Eagle do you think would be closest? I wear a 13in glove, but I was looking at the X72i and PPFi. Any ideas? One more thing, what's the difference between TuffTek and Carbon, what do you guys prefer? All my gloves are Nylon, I don't like leather.
K9 Unit 1 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 the x72 would have a bit more roomier fit and a short cuff so that might fit youbut the ppf's kinda fit like the r8's (correct me if i'm wrong) so really depends which fit you'd prefertufftek's just a version of nylon and carbon has really bad duribility so i'd go with tufftek versions
Invert 13 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 If you wait, they are bringing out the X61, which is a chinese made glove with msh2 palms.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Eagle has changed the fit on most of the gloves for 2010, some have changed pretty significantly.
AdamCV 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 I second the X72, I have wide hands and these fit great with lots of room and love the short cuff on them
stuie7 6 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Vapor XXX: My favorite glove. Love the cuff, love the fingers, love the palm area. I usually clip the elastic/padding on the wrist (near the palm) for more flexibility on my top hand, not on these though. Flex thumb rocks on this glove.I've got a pair of Eagle X72s and Vapor XXs both in 14" (I assume the 20s are the same fit as the 30s).I find the Eagle X72 is a little tighter than the Vapor XXs throughout, fingers and cuffs are pretty much the same length (I wear the long Jofa 9177 elbows and they dont interfere). The X72 is a little stiffer and cuff is a little tighter than the XX but not by a great deal. I use both pairs of these gloves and I think it would be a reasonable transition. Both are great gloves, but the Vapor XXs are my favourite although the Eagle palm is much better. TBLfan 25 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Vapor XXX isn't the same fit as the XX. Much wider cuff.
