Compression Shorts

Recommended Posts

Searched and read the posts concerning compression shorts. I have a Warrior Nutt Hutt and it fits great, but I find the cup doesn't fit snugly around my boys, more so around the bottom. I haven't been stung yet, but I find it floats when I skate/move certain ways, leaving them exposed. Playing defense, this is not the ideal feeling to have when it comes to shot blocking.

I read about wearing a pair of boxers, but I don't want things too bulky as the shorts are snug and fit nicely as is. Anyone have any experience with the Warrior, or others in general??? Is there a better cup that can be added to the Warrior shorts??? My only other thought is to buy the old jock strap and wear it over the shorts but this will get bulky too I imagine.

Any help would be appreciated, or lead me to another thread that provides answers...

I wear the under armor compression shorts and they do the same there. I always have to adjust it during the game, and sometimes the cup turns sideways :(. I might try a smaller pair of compression shorts to see if that helps.

I had the same problem with my shockdoctor. I wear a compression short under the compression jock, it helps. They need to design more umm, ball room.

Same problem for me. I've been toying w/ the idea of using a light goalie jock. See the goalie gear section for the thread I started about it..

Had the same problem with both Reebok and Under Armour. I solved it by switching the cup in the jocks to an older style CCM that fits much better :D . I don´t like the new style cups they are using now the shape is not right for my parts.

I skip putting the cup in the compression short due to these issues. Nice idea, but in practice it does not work very well for hockey. Use a regular jock with a cup and slide a compression short over the cup/supporter combo. Much better protection and does not slide around. Those $30-40 compression short/cup combos are a waste of $$ I think. I only use the compression shorts due to the velcro attachment for my socks, but the cup is always worn in a supporter underneath.

I've been using the Reebok loose fitting short with jock in it. It has basically a normal jock, within the short so it seems to stay in position much better. I wear a normal Under Armor compression short under the Reebok loose cup/short and it seems to work great.

i bought a pair of the easton compression pants and was having the same problem with the cup floating around too much. i bought a second pair of the pants one size smaller and now the pouch and cup stay in place over my junk.

the style of cup in them is a banana cup with a silicon pad around the edges of it...its an older design but it fits me better than these fancy new jocks they keep making

prokennex, i'm in the same boat, except i'm using the UA compression short... only been tagged once and it hurt for a week. the shot went off the shaft of my stick, hit side of my cup (which essentially pushed it out of the way) and got me square-on. the worst part was that it was in overtime on a PK in our zone, so i was trapped out there, and when the play finally went dead, i could barely get to the bench.

Shotty, exactly why I posted this. The exact same thing happened to me with another compression short, and I almost hurled when I got to the bench, after getting stuck out there for what seemed like an eternity. Thought Warrior would be better but not at all.

I use the WSI loose fitting shorts. Like other brands the loose fitting simply has a cup holder and straps in it with the look of a pair of shorts. I've used both compression shorts and loose fitting with the jock straps as mentioned and find the loose fitting more comfortable and better at keeping the cup where its supposed to be.

I use the WSI compression pant. Like Chadd said they last....mine are at least 8-10 years old. Over them I wear a standard jock strap & cup. Never have any problem with it shifting.

Had the SD compression shorts, after year and half they started coming apart. Now sport RBK 9K Compression, after a year or so of 3x per week (play and washer) still good to go. The added tailbone piece, well feel kinda funny ar first when sitting on the bench but once you get used to it, I'm sure can only be a adder in protection. The cup stays home well. BTW, it's worn over Benik groin/thigh wraps.
