Equipment manager video

Great video - very informative.

One very, very small comment: there's a reliance on hand-held pans that makes the video feel a little less 'professional' than it might. The pursuit shots are fine, and you do a nice job of following the subject, but to then get into the space and let the camera's gaze wander to points of interest, rather than reframing a second shot and cutting to it, takes away from the impact.

The editing is otherwise quite good, and the quality overall is excellent.

Yeah, I was just using a monopod to try to slightly steady the camera since the tour part was done on the fly and I didn't want to go with a tripod set up in every room. I had also planned on using more B-roll stuff with the audio being the guy talking but it didn't fit. I was trying to be as mobile as possible. I should have included the clip where I back over about 15 Reebok 10k's and wipeout sending sticks everywhere. Pretty funny.

Nice job. I always assumed being in the Montreal organization that he was John 'For-jay' *L*

Next time let me know you're going to shoot...Just get his attention for 10 minutes and let me loose in that room...keh?

I thought it was For-jay as well until he introduced himself. No kidding about that room. I was there on a day when a new call up came in and John literally threw new gear at him. Then there was the day that Sergei Kostitsyn got his shipment of a dozen Dolomites which he proceded to spray paint black (except for his nameplate and the Warrior logo) because he didn't like the green color. It was pretty neat to see all the behind the scenes. Half the guys that paint their sticks do it for something to do before the game and the rest for purely aesthetic reasons.

Cool video, I love to see stuff like that. I really like the behind the scenes stuff, especially the ones of players taping and cutting sticks and all that stuff.

I'm hoping to do some more behind the scenes. One will feature the players and their pre-game stuff. You should see PK Subban warm up with a swedish stickhandling ball before the game. Talk about hand/eye coordination and speed. Then there is goalie Cedrick Desjardins, a lacrosse ball and a wall three feet away.

Those sound terrific like terrific mini-docs; definitely parlay your success with this one to make them happen.

Just don't distract Desjardins when he's throwing that India-rubber ball - those things'll break your nose. :)

Up on YouTube now. Hopefully more stuff coming from Vancouver where I will be shooting the Olympics. Not sure around restrictions with video (likely many) but I am bringing a little Flip camera to shoot behind the scenes stuff mostly for my own records. I'm hoping they will relax about that but often accredited media are not allowed to act like tourists because of their access (ie no autograph requests, no photos with players etc ) so they may tell me to stow the Flip else I lose my accreditation. Keep your fingers crossed.

Really cool vid. I had to laugh when your phone went off and then a few seconds later you hear the "Dong" of the voice mail alert. You must have a blackberry. When I was watching it i immediately reached for my phone before I figured out what was going on.

That was actually his phone and I had to edit out the extended ring tone and have him start again. Didn't plan on the "dong"

You lucky, lucky sod - enjoy every second!

I plan on it. My venue is women's hockey so I'm pretty excited. At least I'm shooting hockey and not stuck on the side of a mountain freezing my ass off. I'm also hoping to shoot some early round men's games if I can nab a photo position.

If the restrictions we got are any indication...you will be HEAVILY restricted. And, I don't think you'll lose your media access...bu, I doubt that flip will be allowed anywhere near behind the scenes stuff.
