vapor or supreme

Recommended Posts

I just got my Vapors last January, and love them. No, keep in mind - they fit me best after trying a few different ones on (RBK 9K - white, which are a sharp skate and I love the lace lock, CCM-not sure which model). I did not try on the supremes for whatever reason. I have the XXIX (which I am told is a SMU model), and the Supreme model I was looking at ended up being 40 or 50 dollars, more. So, the fact the I liked the fit of the vapors probably stopped me from trying the supremes - kind of wish I would've at least tried them for curiosity sake!

If you have read through on the site here, you'll see many differing opinions, and as already stated the different lines, have different range of skates. So.... set your price range and try them both on. What is great for someone else, might not be for you.

With all the profiling and contouring available out there, is there really a difference for someone who can fit into either skate?

Not to mention that within each line there are major differences between models in both fit and options.

+1

i went in last summer leaning towards X50's or even X40's and ended up with X60 because the fit was far superior to either.

Your talking about two skates designed to fit completly different. Two totally different cuts. You need to see what is going to fit your foot better. Take it from the guy who bought vapors, skated for 6months tring to like them all to give them away and get one 95's. Try both on and see what you like. Profiles, blades, heel lifts can all be changed. Focus on fit of the boot.

I think so. I've been wearing Bauer Vapor 8 skates for years. a few months ago I saw an insane deal on Bauer Supreme 70 skates. I don't know how to describe it but I just find the boots to be completely different. I've pretty much decided to re-sell them. I found some Vapor XXXX skates on special last month. when I put them on it was such a natural fit. I know now that I'm just a Vapor kind of skater.

There are prob like a hundred skates in both lines combined over however many years they've been in existence...go with whatever freakin fits...

Its like asking if I should go with Vector skates or Tacks....

The 8 and the XXXX fit very differently. Those original Vapors were extremely narrow.

I have been skating on Vapor XXXX for about a year now. I have a medium or D foot with a narrow heal and low volume instep. They felt great in the store and they do perform very well but I just think there is to much volume in the skate for me. The skate just does not form to my heal and ankle as it should. I will be trying on the Vapor 60's and One 95's soon. How do these two skates fit compared to the Vaper XXXX?

One more question if you dont mind. If I go the custum route, how do you choose between the Vapor and Supreme line? I mean they will be a perfect fit for either one correct?

Thanks, Michael

That's a good point you bring up! I remember the vapor 40 had a slightly wider heel than the one95, however it was narrower and had less volume in every other regard.

I can't believe this still has legs.

come on, you've been here since the beginning. You should know how this plays out by now.

*sigh* A guy can dream, can't he, Chadd? ;)

The worst part about dreams is waking up and realizing that nothing has changed

Am I the only one that thinks the Vapor XXXX and One95 fit similarily length and width wise? The Vapors have become much deeper than back in the day. I'd say the radius and different ankle construction. Hell the One95 variants are not even similar to the previous Supremes or the Supremes before that. The same would go for Vapors IMO. I'm not sure why anyone would think the Supreme 7000s would fit like the One95 or Vapor 8s like the Vapor 40

Since its still going.. the other thing I probably should have said in my OP is that dont count out Flexlites if you're dead-set on Bauer, I dont doubt that they're not as technologically advanced as the X60s or the One95s but the fit is much better for me personally, which im sure is going to make me a better skater then if I was in poorly fitting Vapors or Supremes.

that is for sure! I was even able to go down a size when I bought the XXXX. very advantageous since that put me in a junior skate. MUCH less money. :)
