Padded Shirts

Recommended Posts

So I am a bit tired of putting on shoulder pads for pickup games that I play in...they are just too bulky and hot. Do any of you use those padded shirts, I think they are predominantly for roller hockey, but I may be wrong. If so, can you recommend any particular one. Also, if you take a good shot off the chest would it absolutely kill? Some of you might remember a guy hit me with a slap shot in the chest at a stick and puck a couple months ago and that really did a number on me because I was sore forever. SO I dont really want a repeat of that and figured a padded shirt might work. But I def need to ditch the shoulder pads.

Padded shirts aren't any cooler but I love mine. I'm using a Mission Thorax protector and it provides more coverage where I need it, mainly in the lower back... No more bruises from crosschecks.

Taking a puck is never going to feel good, but I'd rather take one with a padded shirt over an open spot with shoulder pads on.

Ok, correct me if I am misunderstanding, so you wear one under your shoulder pads? Yeah I guess I could see them not really holding up well against a slapshot just on their own. I just don't think I need a full set of shoulder pads for the pickup games I am wearing, but I am concerned with at least having some protection from shots.

Heres the one I use I have no complaints about them. If you play alot of pick up you should get a pair of those Sherwood shoulder pads and tell me what there like lol.http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Reebok_7K_P...page-RPS7K.html

That looks nice. I may give one a shot and see how I like it. Seems like there are mixed opinions about them, so best bet is for me to just try it out.

I have a 6k padded shirt that I wear sometimes at pickup. It doesn't do a whole lot against shots taken up high. It is good for tipped pucks that come up or getting hit with a stick. I prefer it over shoulders for pickup.

I have the RBK 6k shirt, they're on clearance on most sites if you can find any at all. It's similar to the 7k i guess. The only pads i didnt like were the ones that were above my shoulders, near my neck. I just cut them out and now i love the shirt. I wear it when i line more competitive games like upper level midget or junior and also wear it when i play since it's a non-contact league.

Yes, it is more accurate and allows you to search for shorter strings, such as S7, or whatever.

It uses google algorithms that are more than just a basic word search.

Does anyone make a long sleeve with lower back pads only to protect against x-chk outside crease?

Looks like Shock Doctor has a long sleeve with back padding.
