rbk 8k vs jofa 9117

Recommended Posts

I live 10 min away from the border so i get stuff coming from the states to a shipping place about twenty min away. They only charge me $3 to get it shipped there. So for the 9177 elbow pads it will end up costing me $55 bucks and ill go pick them up and my new easton pro stock gloves together.

That's a sweet deal. You can access deals from both sides of the boarder.

I know it's getting off topic but that's pretty sweet for you. You have access to all the US deals! What shipping place do you use?

I will have to sell my 8K pro small. They still have the tags on. They don't fit me and the middle strap is so uncomfortable. Picked myself up some Warrior Hustlers instead.

Yeah it works out great! its called the ship-it shop in massena new york. the only problem is trying to get through customs with gear and boxes in the car when im trying to ship stuff over.

Yeah i got lucky and found this place. they are also pretty cheap to send stuff out.

you have both the rbk and the jofa pro? i have the 8k retail version and i dont really like the feel of the play dry liner in them. I like the the look of the 9177's better then the 8k and i thought that both pro versions were the same except the different logos.

retail 8k is nothing like the 8k pros, and my 9177 ain't a pro version but there's not too much difference, they both don't have those "moisture wicking and anti bacterial liner"

So whats the diff between the 8k retail and 8k pro? i know the liner is diff and the outside material is also diff but im not sure.

How can one tell if the 8K is pro or retail?

http://www.hockeymonkey.com/reebok-hockey-...ds-2009-sr.html <- thats the retail 8k, 8ks pro's looks like the jofa's but says 8k pros

I have these retail 8k's, and i have the 7k's that look the same and just bought the 9177. The new Reebok stuff is crap. And i was wondering about fit and the liner between 8k pro and these.

The RBK stuff was jofa made/based up until the "kinetic fit" stuff, I'm quite sure.

Yeah im pretty sure thats what i heard also, and i find the 6 or 7 yeard old jofa stuff still better then current reebok stuff

Alright so i got my 9177 elbows in the mail monday night and played with them that day. I loved how they felt and were very comforable, i got a size 6 and they are a little bit smaller then my size 7 rbk 7k and bigger then my rbk 8k in size 6. They arent too big like my 7k's are but i think after i break them in with 3 or 4 more skates they will be fine. The added length/wrist guard didnt interfere with my gloves vapor xxxx/pro stock easton so that was a good thing.

I find that the added length of the 8k/9177 doesn't interfere with gloves, but I still prefer my elbow pads to be shorter. I think I might order some 7k's soon

Why don't you just cut off the extension?

I find its just in my gloves so it helps and i dont feel those slashes anymore which is nice.

Never reallly thought about it. I don't want to mess them up though

The only reason i say that is im thinking of doing it also, i mean the extension does come really far down. For me if i cut the extension it would meet the cuff of my glove perfectly. Ive always used shorter Jofas also so im definitely more used to is being shorter.

On top of that i believe the extension is the only difference between the 7k and 8k. But yeah im just feeling it out right now because i don't want to cut it for nothing, i think if worse came to worse i would just go back to wrist guards.

Yes the extension is the only difference between the 9177/8k and 9144/7k . And if you do end up doing it or someone has would you mind posting pics?

i just took scissors and snipped the wrist extensions right off. came out a lot better than i thought.

for me the wrist guards extended into my gloves, so now they are the perfect length. couldnt be happier with them.

ill see if i can take pics a little later.

im sure you could have an equipment repair shop or seamstress attach a new piece of piping around the end as well if it really starts bothering you

Thanks for the pics Hockeyfreak, I think im going to do it also this week. Its hitting the inside of my franchise and i noticed alot of the pros that use longer cuff gloves are actually using the 7k/9144 instead of the 8k/9177.
