iPhone app development

Recommended Posts

Is anyone familiar with iphone app development? I've read through some google searches about how to go about the process (register for the Apple iPhone Developer Program for $99) but I was hoping to just play around with my idea before paying to do anything. Clearly I'm not too familiar with the process here...

Does anyone know if there is software available to tinker around with ideas before committing with one hundred bucks? Thanks

Yup. Go to the apple developer site and sign in with your apple account ID (make one if you don't have one). You can then download the sdk and play around with it. Keep in mind you will need a mac.

Should probably add that if you want to put your creations on your phone or sell them you will then need to pay the $100

i have a handful of good ideas for apps. just no idea how to use the sdk.

Or spell it lol. We'll have to talk when the season starts. It's amazing how booming of a business it's become, with companies knowing that they pretty much to develop an app to stay in the game. CIBC runs commercials just for their iPhone app. I just wish the NHL would do one like the MLB where we could watch games live.

Yeah i have a few EPIC ideas. I was actually looking to hire a developer but im worried about them stealing the ideas from me. I was a registered iphone developer for a year, and getting the beta firmware was pretty fun, but i couldn't figure out how to program very much, my brain just doesnt work that way. My dad made a few cool apps, useless but cool none the less. I will most likely register again when 4.0 comes out, soon hopefully...

I've heard hiring a developer can cost upwards of $125 an hour. You're better off playing with it until you learn it. That said there are a tonne of free classes on iTunes for it and a tonne of books you can buy.

Do you have to spend the $99 first? Im trying to download the SDK and its asking me to add an enrollment plan to the cart first.
