Deep fitting skates

Recommended Posts

What are some options for deep fitting skates. My pro tacks are not deep enough. I tried on 8090 and they were boarderline. What are the other options. Cant do grafs because of the narrow toe cap.

Some Nike boots look pretty deep. Sorry I don't know which ones though as I believe their fitting styles change per model -- much like Graf.

8090, S500, 705, 709 might solve your depth problem.

Might have to go custom toecap on the Graf.

Try on some S500s if you can.

Brandon - depth relates to the volume of the skate. Some people have thin feet while some have thick feet. (height, not width) Best way to tell is to put a pen or a rule across the third eyelet while fitting them. If it touches the foot and not the sides of the skate, the boot is too shallow.

I tried the 10 ee 8090 and it close. I did the pen thing and it just touches my foot before the sides of the skate. I think if it was baked my heal will be deeper and it would be ok.

I tried a purefly in a EE width and it was no go To narrow.

As for the grafs I do like how the 709 fits but I havn't spoke to anyone about custom yet.

the graf toe cap can be punched out meaning u can heat it with a heat gun and make it bubble out like the rest of the skate

one thing to keep in mind when trying on new skates and you have high volume feet..

consider a footbed without much of an arch..a lot of the footbeds aren't high quality..and if you have a high volume foot it will sit on and not in the arch...bring a flat footbed, something thin even..and try them on with a skate...this can solve a lot of problems...

I find my 705's to be too deep. Any way to change this? This isn't a must... they fit fine, I just like my skates really snug.

What is the "pen thing"?

Could you explain it please?

Thanks.

Here it is...

705 or 709 should be good, or externo or vector are generally deeper than tacks.

As far as the externo and vectors go, the vectors fit deeper than the externos and have a larger toe cap. I have 9.5e vectors for inline, and they fit me great. I have 9.5 e externo e 50's that i picked up for ice thinking they would fit the same, and they are definately shallower, and the toe cap puts a little pressure on my pinky toe.

709 is the deepest graf and a great skate...altho i prefer 705 for my foot...try v12s theyre a very good skate and, i thought at least, pretty deep. not the lightest ever but for how comfy they are the only thing that comes close is a graf.

when doing the "pen trick" should the tongue be in or out and should it clearly cross or should there be no contact at all?

the tounge should be out

If your skates are too deep, buy a pair of the Sole Ultra insoles, they're about 4 times as thick as the stock insole.

http://www.yoursole.com/cgi-bin/edge/splas...gory=SOLE_ULTRA

how are you liking them so far?

I hate them, infact the Sole Ultra's are so thick in my Pro Tacks I couldn't even use them. They have a ton of cushioning, I just wish they weren't so thick. The Regular Sole's are nice but they don't have the same amount of cushioning.

I mean, if you have a really "thin" foot in a really deep skate, they'd be great, but my foot almost exactly fits the regular depth of the Pro Tacks so adding an extra 4+ millimeters of cushioning was too much.
