Norris Finalists

Recommended Posts

This is why I think they should create a Bobby Orr/Paul Coffee type award that recognizes the top scoring defenseman, that way the Norris can go to the best overall defenseman and not just the guy with the most points.

Please add Brian Leetch to the name of that award. Orr/Coffee/Leetch works for me. Gotta rep the US man.

The Norris is for best D-Man and Green is terrible in the D-Zone, yeah he can score on the PP but there are much better Defensemen

I agree completely.

When a rookie with 22 regular season games is cutting into your playoff TOI and PK minutes, you have no business being considered for a Norris.

Keith or Doughty. Green is terrible in his own end. Just watch the Pens-Caps series from last year and the Habs-Caps series this year.

But do either of them have Geico Caveman commercials touting their greatness?

Watching the Chicago-Nashville series this year will show why Keith doesn't deserve it. Then again, this is what happens when you nominate the three highest scoring defensemen for the Norris.

I know there's a lot of detractors, but Pronger has had a heck of a year, and actually has a defensive component. I'd have put him in the top 3.

In my opinion it's Doughty.

Doughty - Consistent, scores, always makes the right play.

Green - Lots of points, not great defensively.

Keith - Lots of points, but has been off his all around game.

If anything, Doughty's light heartedness in stressful situations are what puts him above these guys. He "bounces" to music on the bench or before face offs whether the Kings are winning or losing but he always seems focused no matter what's going on. His age will be taken into account, but not against him. The dude is 20 years old and his game is more well rounded then a lot of top defense men.

I remember Dustin Brown doing an interview saying "I don't think Dewey knows how good he actually is".
