Smelling Salts that they normally use for players that get knocked out. You see a lot of guys using them at the start of games or periods to get a little pep and get their awareness level up.

I've seen shots of coaches doing it. There is a hot of Gretz from Pho a few years back during the TV timeout...grabs one for a little "whoa!" They are pretty potent. Smell like amonia.

Just don't put it on after you start sweating. Once your pores open up putting stuff like that or icy hot will burn like hell.
