X:60 Girdle Reviews

Recommended Posts

Playing higher-level contact hockey for multiple teams all of which have their own shells. Looking at the X:60 Gridle, but haven't seen any reviews or feedback from anyone who owns one. Not crazy about the styling of the Vapor XXXX, or the lack of protection in the One95. None of the other manufacturers' girdles are appealing, so I am down to the X:60 or staying with pants. Does anyone have anything to say about the X:60 girdle? Wondering about comfort/weight/mobility/temperature/protection. Thanks.

Are you talking about the adaptable core pad? If you are, it really isn't much different than the XXXX other than some styling and the fact that it's Bauer instead of Nike Bauer and X:60 instead of XXXX. Probably a few minor differences.

I use the XXXX core pad and swear by it. Way better than pants in my opinion and still has good protection as opposed to the ONE90 and ONE95 girdles which have barely anything there.

Do a search for the XXXX adaptable core pad, you should be able to find a bunch on it; like I said... extremely similar to the X:60.

Thanks, Peck. Looks like the X:60 might have a little more protection up front. Not sure if that means that it might wear a little hotter than the XXXX. The one thing that I am skeptical of is the three-pad hip pad concept on the XXXX. Concerned from both a protection and annoyance standpoint. Seems a little bulky in the hips. There's another thread on this site that had one guy adding another pad over the three-pad system for additional protection. That might imply that the hip protection isn't what it could be (or that this particular individual falls on his hip a lot). Either way, that has me questioning the three-pad concept.

Another guy stated that the XXXX was a little stiff at the beginning, but loosened up nicely. While yet another guy said that he hated them. All-in-all, seems like the XXXXs have had very good reviews. I just like, based on pictures only, the hip pad concept on the X:60 and what appears to be a little more padding up front to protect the valuables.

Would love to know what the weight is on the X:60 vs the XXXX.

I actually think the segmented hip protection on the XXXX is one of the best features. It give you more side to side bending mobilty because it moves with you by each pas going inside the other rather than just one flat pad.

I've never had any problems with protection. From my experience the XXXX core pad is on par, or maybe slightly behind, with the protection of the XXXX pant. It is basically the pant in girdle form for the most part.

I have the NBH vapor XXX pant with the segmented hip protection & I think it's great. Very good mobility IMO.

The X:60 ACP and the XXXX ACP has identical upper portions - in other words the kidney offers the same protection. The hip construction is the biggest differance. The X:60 features a two piece construction vs. a 3-piece construction. Reducing to two piece construction maintains the mobility and protection of the hip but helps reduce the bulk.

Also the thigh boards has added ventilation.

Checked out the "core pad".........looks great......may go that way, with some pro used shells?

Thanks, sorry can't give you any info on the X60, but will keep eyes open.

The X:60 is wicked light and very, very comfortable for a girdle set up. We tried them on in the shop last week and were amazed at how good they felt. Sometimes girdles feel bulky but I thought the X:60 felt like it worked anatomically with your body.

I've had both the X:60 and XXXX girdles and one thing I found was that the X:60 was noticeably lighter than the XXXX. I love both though, really mobile and light.

DarkStar,

I see that you are 5'6". So am I. I'm only a 130 lb. Freshman, so I still have some growing to do. I'm pretty skinny. My waist measures 32". What size did you feel fit you best?

About to pull the trigger on these. Sure wish I could get someone's opinion who is actually playing in these. Unable to see them in person or try them on, so I'm basing my purchase on pics and online feedback only. A teammate of mine has the XXXXs and says that he likes them, but wishes there was a little more padding in them. He's a D-man. I'm a Fwd.

My only other concern with the X:60 is the spinal pad. It sits a little higher than what I am used to. I'm assuming that it will fit/slide under the shoulder pads and not interfere with them. That might be the biggest issue I have with this ACP/girdle.

On the XXXX the spine pad is adjustable. You can make tighter or looser to your back, but you can't move it up/down. I've never had a problem with it interfering with my shoulder pads.

Okay everyone,

Time for me to crap or get off the pot. Going to pull the trigger this week. Any last minute comments would be great from those currently wearing the X:60 girdle. If not, will get back in a couple of weeks with some comments.

Mine came in two days ago but got a chance to wear them yesterday for a pickup game. When I pulled them out of the box, I was amazed how light they were!

Compared to my Bauer Vapor XXXX pants, the X:60 Girdle is awesome! I slipped them on and they are so comfortable and light. Lots of mobility and great protection!

Only thing I noticed is I had them strapped pretty snug and I noticed my boxers were more damp then usual after compared to my old hockey pants. Next time I'll strap it loose and it will probably allow more flow to keep it more dry.

I'd highly recommend these, I won't be going back to standard pants anymore.

Haven't had a chance to see these in person and I was just wondering - do you have to step into these like pants or do they come completely open so you can wrap them around, like the Supreme girdle?

Wrap.

They are a true hybrid - it's a girdle on steroids. I considered it as I've worn a girdle for 15 yrs now but it's more protection than I really want/need at this point. Went with the ONE95.

If they are like the XXXX core pad they are open everywhere except the waist. So you unstrap the thigh pads and step in.

JR... you said wrap; Does the entire waist open up?
