One80 skate success!

Recommended Posts

Bought a few pairs of skates to try on from icewarehouse and finally decided on the 7D, they felt better and better the more I wore them around the apartment, baked them at home at 150F for 4-5 mins and it worked great. They feel even better and the toe box is no longer uncomfortable. Toes are lightly rubbing the cap after the bake and pull completely away when in a crouching stance, ankle/heel fit is ultra snug and locked in, mid/forefoot is very snug with minor pain. Cant wait to break these in! But man... 7D??? I wear a 9.5-10.5 shoe depending on the brand, and even a snug 11 in asics. Dont understand it, maybe Im just small boned. Heres some pics.

I wear a 7.5 and have a size 10-10.5 shoe. This is why it is imperative to go to your lhs to get a properly fitted skate, or find a place that has free shipping and returns.

you baked them in your apartment oven?

Indeed I did. Worked just fine. Probably not as thorough of a bake as youd get in a LHS, but it worked just fine. And doing it at 150F greatly reduced the risk of damage.

Crazy how much smaller the supremes run... And I chose icewarehouse for exactly that reason: free return shipping and no restocking fee.

I wear a size 11.5 shoe, and had a pr of CCM Vector's in 9, that I could barely get into....the skates moved all over my foot?

Is it possible that movement can happen in skates if they are too small, or too big?

WOW 11 asics....and a 7 One80???? 4 sizes down?

Is it the new supreme line that fits like this? Also, what was the ball park cost of the One80's?

TY

Google or check an online retailer

 How hard of a concept is it to grasp?

Asics run small so their sizes are messed up anyway. Its possible those CCMs you had were too wide?? And the one80s are $400 usually unless you find a coupon code like I did and got them for $360. Seriously though, just google "one80 skates". Its not that hard!

I had to go down to 7.5 D in my X60's.

How would you rate the stiffness on these One80's? - it looks like a pretty nice skate. Cheaper alternative to the Total/One100s.

They are obviously going to be very stiff being a mid-high end skate. I dont know how stiff the one100's are to compare but these are very stiff. If only my ankles and lower shin areas were a bit thicker I could really make use of all the stiffness!

I really like the nice felt tongue they put on there - good to see it going back to that.

Yeah it is nice, but it hurts my ankle where it gets between my ankle bone and the ankle padding. I need to trim it some.
