Warrior HD Blades breaking

Recommended Posts

Hey, I have been using these blades now for about 8 months, in that time I have gone through 4 of them!! A quick background, I am a mid level rec player, on ice once a week, 85 flex stick, 6", 170lbs, so no beefcake! and mainly use wrist and snap shot as a winger.

With equipment you accept that there is some level of breakage which could happen in the first session even. however my blades have all snapped in the exact same place whilst lasting no more than 2-3 months (bear in mind I am on ice once a week). When I say the same place I mean the exact same place (see pictures below). It seems to me that there is an inherent weakness in the hosel causing it to do this?

I guess I was wandering if anyone else having similar issues with the durability of these blades?

Before I bought these blades I had the original non HD blades and they would last me upwards of 6 months, hence the annoyance when these go in 1/3 of the time. Realistically no rec player can afford to be paying $300+ a year on blades and they shouldn't have to! I originally bought warrior because they were supposed to be tough and durable, now I am currently looking at buying anything but Warrior!!

On a side note, I have contacted Warrior an number of times, well tried to for 2 months, havent had a single reply as yet!!

Not too sure about blades, but most sticks only have a warranty period of 30 days. With that said, contacting Warrior is a good idea to 1) Let them know there is an issue that seems pretty odd and 2) That you would like to know if there is any form of consolation.

I do have a question though, have you been buying these from the same store? It could possibly be a bad batch, as I have not seen any other posts complaining about the blades.

Yeah, warranty normally is 30 days which kind of sucks, but the equivalent use is about the same, the latest one i put in in late march and its gone already 2 weeks ago! thats barely over 30 days!

I have tried contacting them, am on the verge of calling as well! might have to do that seeing as they dont seem to reply to emails!

I bought 3 from hockey monkey and the latest 2 from total hockey. The 3 from hockey monkey are the ones in the picture so yeah I guess it could be that?? Either way i guess I have to sit and wait for a reply or pick up the phone!

There is a warrior rep on this forum, so hopefully this issue gets some attention. Im fairly surprised myself, ive been using warrior for about 4 years and usually get at least 6/7 months out of my dolo blades.

Is there? thats handy then haha.

I was surprised too because my previous blades, the non HD ones lasted me 6/7 months as well! Ive had warrior about 2 years, 1 with the old 1 with new. the old one i Only replaced 1 blade in the year, on a stiffer flex! and that only broke because i smacked the heel against the boards moaning at the ref!

thanks for the advice so far guys!

Given the placement of the breaks, that is either a problem with the design or with your shooting motion. I would be curious to see if anyone else has seen breakage in the same spot.

My Dolo HD OPS broke in the exact same spot. Pretty sure it was from getting my stick on a few hard shots during a shift on D because it was cracked across the inside afterwards. Hopefully it doesn't happen to the HD's I just bought.

I understand your plight I started with three macdaddys last summer from hockey monkey and before thanksgiving I had broken all 3 macdaddys at the fuse so they sent dolos and broke all of those twice all on the blade so they sent spynes. I have since gone to the se16's but I still have a broken spyne left i just got tired of shipping off sticks. One thing I will say is for customer service I would recommend to everyone.

ps for those counting thats 12 broken sticks in 3-4 months

Man thats Brutal!! My problem seems like a scratch to your flesh wound! haha. thats good of them that they replaced them though! I was looking at moving to the se16's.

As it happens I got a reply yesterday from Warrior via their official website. Just co-incidental I am assuming?? They have offered to replace the blades which they said is not normal practice so thats pretty good. Just have to get them back to them from the UK now!!! So once I get them il put them in as normal and ride em as long as i can!

seeing the replies I would say that the place of the break/ the hosel is either a weak point, or it is just a high pressure point that is susceptible to breakage

Thanks for the help and stories guys!

Cust Serv just got back to you. This is the first I've seen of this post.

You may run into some issue with the warranty if you received your reply from our US cust serv, as they can not service European warranties.

I'll check with the manager and I'm sure they'll get back to you. So you know, we (as well as other manufacturers) do not honor warranties for product shipped out of NorthAmerica.

Keith

My buddy had a Dolo HD that broke after a couple months in the same spot. He's never broken a blade. They have great feel but seem to have lost the durability of the old Dolo blades...probably why the local shop stopped carrying them and only have the Dolomite DD blades now.

I have been a ak27 shaft/blade combo user for nearly 4 years now.

I enjoyed the feel of the new ak27 but because of the questionable durability of the blades I'm considering moving on to another brand.

The old blades lasted me on average 3 months but the new ones 3 weeks at the most. I play about 4 times a week and am easy on my stick.

Yesterday I went to my lhs to ask if they had received any customer complaints regarding the new ak27 blades and coincidently, Warrior reps were going to see them last night…they said they would look into it.

Apparently my case is an isolated one … according to Warrior the new ak27 is sturdier than its predecessor.

I wish I had kept my broken blades.

True Story. The DoubleD is a very stable product.

How's the feel of the DD compared to the HD blades?

Can't say I'm a fan of the gold-green glitter all over them though.
