Stick dilemma!

Recommended Posts

My current stick is a one85 112 flex. It has a huge chunk missing near the blade and I need a back up. I was considering the x:60 since I have used a couple prostock vapor sticks and liked them. My question is not about the difference in flex between the two. My question is in regards to prostock sticks with fused carbon extensions. The sticks are usually four inches longer than standard and rated at (for example) 102 flex. Is that 102 flex after the extension or 102 flex before the extension? I will need to put that much length into one of the retail x:60's and if the prostocks are rated pre extension I will be fine. If not...I am screwed!

Thanks for any help. I have read on here that the one series sticks at 112 feel similar in flex to the vapor sticks in 102 flex. If that is the case I think I should be fine.

As far as them feeling stiffer, they definitely do due to the very low kickpoint. It's like they stiffened the shaft a bunch up top to move the kickpoint down so low.

I'd guess 102 before the extension (it's still an extension), but I have no proof. I can tell you My Vapor XXXX 102 flex was MUCH stiffer than my 102 flex One95.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the responses. I will probably go with the x:60 LE p02.

I usually use a 102 flex in the bauer one 95 and what i have experineced with the vapor line and the x60 model is that the are a stiffer stick. I tried a 102 flex x60 and i could not get the lean out of the stick so i switched to the 87 flex and i like it much better and my shots are poping off nicley. I am 6"1 223lbs so i can flex a stick no problem so it is up to what you feel comfortable with

That should work well then. 102 flex it is. I am 6'7 300 lbs. I used a vapor xxxx that was a 102 with a four inch extension and I had a wicked shot with that thing! Just couldnt figure the p14 out for stick handling.

So I bought the X:60 LE 102 p02 curve. I just got back from a stick and puck and all in all I like the stick a lot! I wish it was a 112 flex, but oh well how much difference can it actually make? Stick handling is a breeze with this stick! Passing is awesome! Wrist and snap shots are ridiculously better than my supreme sticks. Slap shots...well I have not quite figured those out yet! I believe that has more to do with switching from a pm9 to a p02 curve. I am missing everything high right! I need to focus more on my hand position through my shot but I believe that once I figure it out, I won't be complaining. There were a few that were ripped and a few that were muffins. I highly recommend the stick though. Feel is a little different but with a wood end plug it is not that different.

I had the same problem with low-kickpoint (Vapor XXXX) Bauer sticks. The Vapor series had all the positives you noted, but I seemed to flub more slapshots than usual. I'm pretty tall as well and I've always wondered if the low kickpoint sticks perform differently when you have to put an extension in them.

I wish there was a stick that felt like this, but had the power in slap shots as the supreme sticks do!

Have you tried an S19? I fired a couple nice slappers with one in Toronto and the feel was much better than with the S17.

I have not. I would try the s19 but I am a little scared of spending 250.00 without ever trying one. I just got off the phone with tsr and they have a couple 110 flex one95's left. Soo....I am ordering those and will keep working with the x:60.

The 110 flex sounds like exactly what you were asking about. Same performance but stiffer shaft.

Have you tried a TPS R10? It's great for snap and wristers and the slap shot doesn't suffer for me like other low kick point sticks (Like the RBK 10K or Vapor line).

I would like to try them, but have never been able to actually put one in my hands. It would like to try one, but again have a hard time paying 230+ for a stick I have never held let alone tried out.

I have heard some really god things about them though!

Do alot of people think their slapshot suffers with a low kickpoint stick? My slapshot with my 10k is just as hard as with my one95

I think I just need to work on my release a little before I say it is the stick. I feel like I can just grip it and rip it with the one85 but with previous vapor sticks I have had to pay much more attention about what I am doing with my hands during a slap shot.

Chadd- I am very excited about trying out this new one95 110 flex. This will actually be my first One95 as I have only played with one85's up to this point.

It's too bad you weren't looking for an R10 a few months ago. Total hockey was selling for less than $150 a few months ago. There's cheap R8's out there if you wanted to try a tps stick.

Maybe one of these days! I hope for now I can figure it out with either the x:60 or the one95 on the way!

Just have to find the right hand position to get the most out of the kick-point. I found for myself that holding the X:60 at the "UE" and BAUER works the best, as a frame of reference.

It is funny you mention this! I am starting to figure this stick out a little more every time I use it and today I realized how important hand position on the stick is!

My wrist shots and snappers are nasty with this stick! The slap shot is definitely coming around! Today I realized that if I only bring the stick about parallel with my knees and really snap the hands through it comes off just as hard as winding up and putting everything I have into it with the one85! Plus, that shot is a lot quicker to release!
