Took a trip over to Mission's HQ today....

Recommended Posts

I really wanted to see the Helium 950's in person, so after being unsuccessful at Hockey Giant and Hawk Hockey (Hockeymonkey.com) I decided to go over to Mission's company HQ on the chance that maybe they would be nice enough to show me the skates so I could make a final decision. I have been playing hockey for 15 years now (mostly roller) and have only owned one Mission product - a pair of gloves. I have been skating in the same skates for 7 years now and it's time to upgrade as mine are barely holding together.

I arrived at Mission (it's only 4 miles away from my work) hoping to see some kind of display showing their new stuff off, but didn't see anything but a normal office-looking lobby (except for some cool huge photo displays of some of the Mission players including Justin). I told the Receptionist why I was there and she went and asked someone if they had a skate they could show me. To my surprise, a guy came out with one 950 (no wheels were on it) and let me check it out. The skate is very, very nice. The 950 is definetely the lightest inline skate I have ever seen, and even when the wheels are on it I will still think the same thing. The boot is stiff as hell (not that I'm complaining- I was pleasantly surprised by that) and seems to be a very solid product.

I told the guy that I had read a lot of Justin's comments about the skate and Mission's CS, so he went and got Justin for me (great customer service indeed :)). Justin came out and showed me some of the improvements they made over the D1, and answered all of the questions that I had, including the warranty and durability questions.

I left there feeling very confident in Mission, their staff and more importantly, their products. I really hope everyone here appreciates what guys like Justin and Marcelo give us by coming on these boards (the other being the goaliestore bbs) and providing us with pics, info, opinions and ideas about their companies and the industry in general.

Oh, and Justin- I just wanted to let you know that when I go to get new skates next month, I'll be getting the 950's.

Thanks for your time, and keep up the good work!

Brian

Wow, thats just awesome. To drop into an office like that and for them to be so helpful is just amazing. I personally don't like Mission products but that is just exceptional work by a company in terms of PR and Customer Service.

It really is fantastic I agree to ask a question about Mission products and get an actual employee from the company come on and tell you exactly what the score is. I've never taken it for granted personally. EVERY single hockey company should look at that post and learn to change their ways. Especially recently with that GRAF incident, that was fixed up by Justin impecably!

Justin, Paul Murphy(then of Hespeler) and Chad Radt(then of TPS) were kind enough to show us all of their gear at the expo last year. They all treated us exceptionally well and answered any questions we could think of. The other manufacturers were not as helpful. I look forward to meeting Marz this year and getting to know some of the reps from my area.

its so funny to think that this actions and many other actions by mission are "over the top" and going above and beyond what is needed to be done, but in todays buisness world it is and i commend mission for that. they understand who buys their products and that if you straight forward, open and available to the customer, chances are the customer will stick with you. its one of the basic business principles but when done right, like mission, it makes you the talk of your profession, well done mission. this story, the story in another thread about replacing an pair of S500's makes me look at mission gear first when i need something.

I have been in the roller business for almost 11 years, and have dealt with Mission since their inception. They are without a doubt the best company in the Hockey industry, not only in reguards to consumers but also to their dealers. People like Justin and Joe Cook are just added icing on the cake. For anyone who hasn't tried their products I highly recommend you do!

Speakin of great customer service I called Mission today and spoke to a guy named Patrick. I told him that I could not find the Hexagon axles for my Generator frames and was told by some people that they were discontinued. He went to the R&D guys and got me 8 axles off of some skates and is sending them out to me free of charge. I have been a fan of mission for awhile and will continue to support a great company with great products and great people working for them...

BTW Justin is it true that u guys do not make the Hexagon axle anymore???

it fits the 2003 D limited,D1,and D2

Thanx

Tomas

Patrick is a class act. I talked to him when my d2c outsole split and he got me back on track. Just another reason for me to support mission...
