Do these Warrior Blade Patterns have a big rocker?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Im picking up a new dolomite on clearance because I've been having trouble with stickhandling/shooting because of my Lindros' curve huge rocker. I was wondering how much of a rocker does the Federov/Savard, Draper and Kovalchuk curves have? Im looking for the mid curve with the smallest rocker available. Also, how much are the warrior lies off by, say compared to Easton?

Thanks a bunch.

Hopefully others chime in as my experiece with two of those three patters were just in the LHS but...

IMO the Draper has the most followed by the Kovalchuk and the Savard (although those last two are close). The Draper, Vanek and Kovalev seem to have a fair amount of rocker in them where the Lidstrom, Kovalchuk and Savard have less...

As for lies, the way I see it is:

Warrior L4 = Easton Lie 5

Warrior L5 = Easton Lie 5.5

Warrior L6 = Easton Lie 6

I have owned about 5 Warrior sticks/blades, mostly Jovanovski/Lidstrom and Draper curves though... One Kovalev curve.

Fedorov/Savard has the least amount of rocker

NOT TRUE. The amount of rocker will determine how far off the listed rocker is. I really wish people would stop posting that stuff, way too much misinformation out there on them.

What's the "rocker"? Can someone explain this to me?

When talking about blade patterns, I'm familiar and have a farily good understaning of the terms lie, heel/mid/toe curve, open/closed/neutral face, and open wedge. What does one mean when referring to the "rocker"? Thanks in advance.

The amount of curve on the bottom of the blade. A blade with a small rocker would be pretty flat on the bottom, where one with a large rocker would be much more rounded on the bottom.

I have never used a stick w/ a lot of rocker, but I have held them at my LHS and have always hated the way it feels. I'm curious, what type of player would benefit from more rocker? What are the advantages?

If you like to shoot the puck from closer to your body and use a higher lie a rockered heel helps you stickhandle when the puck is further away from you.

Sorry, just what I have noticed. I have owned all three lies of Draper's as well as an Easton Sakic at the same time... My comment is based off my personal experience, but the Draper has rocker to it...

Assuming a it had ZERO rocker, what would you estimate Warrior's lie scale to be at when compared to Easton?

You can't. Warrior measures their lie at the heel, instead of the middle of the blade. It will vary from pattern to pattern because all patterns have a rocker of some sort and each slightly different rocker + lie will result in a different answer. A 4 lie Draper might equal a 5.5 lie sakic but maybe a 6 lie Zetterberg, etc...

Gotcha... I was basing my comments off of the Draper's... When Total Hockey was blowing out the '09 Dolo's, I bought one in each lie to play with stick lengths and what not...

Sorry to ruffle feathers.

Well it looks like all the Warriors were sold out today haha. I think I'm going to be picking up the U+ CL with the Tavares curve. Does anyone know if the Tavares curve has a big rocker on it?

Thanks a bunch.

Zero rocker would be pretty accurate, like the old Robitaille.

In terms of shooting, is it more optimal to have a flat, non-rockered blade?

You should know this by now, it's personal preference.

i do wish theyd bring back that old Robitaille curve.

I hear you. My first "good" stick was a Robitaille Dolo. I've since taken the blade out and used it in several different shafts. In addition to being nigh-indestructible, that blade just seems to work for me.

I don't have a CCM OPS, but my CCM Tavares blades have little rocker. The Harrow pattern 4 which is a very close clone (maybe identical) is the same.
