What is the difference between the p87a and the older p87?? I have both but cannot find the difference. also is the p87 still available??

P87A is new for this year and is a sakic clone with lie 5.5. P87 has more heel to it and a lie 7.

You can see a blade chart of both at ice warehouse or monkey's websites.

ok thanks. i have never used a sakic before, but i use the naslund all the time. is the naslund bigger than the sakic/crosby?

The P92 Naslund/Backstrom should be nearly identical to the Sakic or P87A Crosby. On a side note I remember comparing a P87 10K with an Sakic SE16 or S19 or something at my LHS, and the lie didn't seem that much different, if at all. I'd like to compare the P87 and P87A sometime.

Decided to give the 6k another go yesterday. Thoughts kind of changed. Stick has great feel, I really enjoyed that part. But, I cant shoot worth crap with it. I can't load it up at all. I dont know if its the shaft shape or what but the stick just doesnt load well. Its rated at a 65 as well, but feels like an 80ish.

I found the same thing with my 11k stick i could not shoot. Ollie said to go down a flex to a 75. I am 220lbs and i was using an 85 flex and i could not get a good shot off. I use a 102 Totalone and a 87 vapor x60 and i can easily shoot good with these. I find the 11k to be a stiff stick.

The lowered kick point requires a different shooting style if youre used to more of a mid kick. Correct me if I'm wrong but the low kick is more for quick snappers and not so much loading a heavy wrister. That could be throwing you off. I mostly shoot snappers and I noticed I've always shot better with the sickkick line. I don't shoot many slappers but those too come off my stick better with the sickkick line.

I guess I should have explained. The kick in the 6k is not low. If you flex the 6k, then flex the 9k/11k the kickpoint is totally different. The 6k almost flexes at the hands, while the 9k/11k flexed like a proper "low kick" stick should. It was very weird.

I don't know. I flex my Dolo and One95 shaft in comparison and those definitely flex in the hands. The 6k kick is definitely lowered but maybe not as much as a higher end Reebok stick.

Have been using the new 6K since Christmas. Kids got me the 100 flex which is a bit much, but it is a great stick nonetheless. Not too heavy, good blade response to passes, good for quick snapshots. It is the Crosby curve, I think 87a?

I am going to buy an 85 flex and rotate between the two. I would say it is the best $99 stick I have tried so far. Better than the Warrior Johnson or Bauer X40 I have been using, although I like the 87 flex on the Bauer. I know when I get the lighter flex 6K it will be the best of the bunch by far.

Unfortunately, I'm having a similar issue with my 11k 2 piece setup. It absolutely hammers the puck on slappers. I have a 100 flex, cut to the 106 mark, and it's just too stiff for me to load wristers as I usually can with most other sticks at around 105 flex. 100 flex shafts are usually just fine for me, including when I had a 100 flex 7k shaft. 95-105 has generally been the right flex range for me, too.

I thought I was really going to love this setup, but I'm thinking of taking it out of my "rotation" (my best weapon is my wrister). Before I give up on my 11k I'd be interested in hearing if anyone feels that these "break in" a little with use, and how long it took. On a positive note, I'm psyched for the addition of the Sakic clone/p87a.

6k Update...

So If you look at my previous posts I started using the stick in December. I play twice a week between ice and roller and I only use my 6k.

It's held up really well over the last few months. Cosmetically the Reebok lettering across the stick is peeling off. I don't know if that's normal. It has normal wear and tear from game use.

I'm posting this because this past weekend during my ice game I noticed the stick felt a little funny. I started tapping and shaking it on the bench thinking it had broke inside. After the game I realized nothing was wrong but the blade itself just became extremely soft. It's still completely usable but the softness is definitely noticeable.

i bought and 11K a while back, and finally got to use it yesterday. my 1st impressions, was that it shot very well! i am coming from and se16, and i could tell a difference it the velocity on my shots. also the blade was very stiff, and provided very good feel, hopefully it stays that way. overall its a very good product so far!

I just put my 11k shaft/blade back into play last week. My usual TPS R9 shaft was starting to die on me (after a good season's use).

The 11k definitely was great for quick snappers/slappers. I felt like some of these shots got a bit of extra pop back. The Spring league/tournaments are the best hockey that I play year-round. I'm thinking that for me, the 11k setup is best for a higher level of play/defense where I really have to get most of my shots off quickly vs. being able to load them as I'd like to. I also should qualify that I'm comparing a shaft/blade with very little use to something that is probably pretty "whipped-out"/tired, at this point. Either way, I'm happy with what the 11k 2 pc can do, after my last game.

In spite of the fact that the 11k 2 pc setup is the "latest and greatest" that I'm aware of, it still felt heavier less light than my TPS R9 shaft/Inno tapered blade combo. It didn't really matter to me, but I thought I'd mention it as some folks are pretty concerned about weight. The weight difference wasn't huge. I got used to it within a few shifts. It's not heavy, by any means. The difference between the TPSR9 and Reebok 11k was noticeable, though.

Could anybody provide an update for those who are still using their stick/shaft?

Also could any users who picked up a Reebok stick recently give us some thoughts?

Thanks!

I just recently went back to my Dolo about a month ago. The 6k was still holding up well but the blade was not as stiff anymore. Still completely functional and usable but just feels a little funny. I really don't think you can beat it for the 99.99 price tag.

I used my 6k for two games last weekend and put it back in my stickbag. I took it out yesterday to put some fresh tape on it and the blade is split. =(

It had a good run. Definitely worth the $100 investment.

I was going to start a new thread but this is the exact question I have. I had a full blown two hander at the end of a game end the life on my P87 Ai9. It looks like only the P87a curve is available and has potentially replaced the P87? Is this correct?
