I'm not a fan of Claude's defensive style. I think this team has a lot of offensive creativity in guys like wheeler, seguin, krejci and ryder that is being squashed out by forcing them into a position where theyre too scared to make mistakes on defense to take any real chances on offense. This team has great goaltending and one of the best d-men in the league as well as some great defensive forwards like bergeron, I don't think a total team defense really needs to be preached for a team that has been among the league leaders in goals against and struggled to score goals the past few years.

Boy were they lucky to get the win tonight. When are they going to learn that after getting a multiple goal lead they have to play the rest of the game. They got every break & they still nearly gave it away. And if I see one more forced pass behind the net that gets picked off or results in a turnover...... I wonder what Neely & Chiarelli have planned if things don't get better?

Tonight's game was the perfect example that they have enough talent to play with anyone when they are engaged. And that's what makes coming out flat to start games so disappointing.

Hey they just did it in reverse tonight. They came out great then took a nap for the second half of the game.

The locals are pushing the panic button and calling for Claude's head today on sports radio. I think the Atlanta game could be very important to somebody's future with the B's.

I recognize it's a L-O-N-G season, so games like Monday's happen to every team, but I do think this team needs to have its reins loosened. If that comes from Julien, I'm fine with it, but I get the impression he's not the type of guy that can change his stripes.

Think about it in comparison to Belichick, who went from ground control with a game managing QB in the early part of the decade to spread receiver sets on scoring binges. He adapted to his personnel and to changes in the league; in some cases, it could be suggested he brought about changes in the league. Because of this ability to adapt, his teams have been in contention for nine straight years in a league whose rules are designed to prevent that type of success. Julien's style, in contrast, hasn't changed in three-and-a-half seasons, even when it's obvious other teams know exactly how to defend his system. This has been particularly evident during the playoff series.

I'm assuming the players get frustrated at having the creativity drained from their game, yet they can play well in this system when they are engaged, so the question management has to ask is whether games like Monday's are one offs in a long season or signs of the players beginning to tune out their coach. At the very least, I'd be playing someone like Seguin more, and not worry so much about his defensive shortcomings. That part of his game can grow with time, but he obviously has offensive talent, so let the kid loose and see if he can score a few more goals.

I agree, I think the players that suffer the most are young guys like Seguin and Wheeler. A guy like Marc Savard or David Krejci has established his game the way that it is, so the system they play in isn't going to affect their game as much whereas younger guys are impressionable and seem to be having the creativity sucked out of them by being forced into this system

Looked like a great game tonight, energy through all 4 lines. Great to see a guy like Ference step up to the plate for a teammate on the Lucic hit, not that Looch is a guy who needed it, but still nice to see that the bruins aren't going to take a hit like that laying down. I think it was Brick who compared this game to the Dallas game a few years ago where Shane Hnidey ragdolled somebody (Ott maybe?) and I got just that feeling tonight. Hopefully this type of energy continues and this turns around the way they've been playing lately. Nice to see Savard skating on the first line again, even if they didn't do much points-wise.

Amazing that's how good they can play when they put out some effort. Hopefully this isn't an aberration and they can start playing more consistently.

They are such a better team when they don't put up with the bullshit and fight back.

Lucic had his head slightly down, but he's listed as six inches taller than Meyer, whose legs were very straight, as if he was trying to extend his reach. So, even if we say it wasn't a high hit, it seemed Meyer was trying to hit higher.

Meyer was going as high as he needed to go for the head. I like meyer most of the time, he usually does well with guys one on one, but he should be suspended for the hit.

Particularly given the outcome of last night's game, I think the B's should have kept Rask in goal, even though he looked shaky. It's quite obvious that Thomas is hitting a tired spot.

You can say that again.

I agree Rask has got to play more, Thomas has a history of getting tired in the second half of the season.

Last night was another embarrassment. For a coach who plays such a heavy defensive style why does it always look like a Chinese fire drill when they have a lead late in a game.

Mark Stuart's due back in two to three weeks, but Kampfer's been playing pretty darn good during this call up, and I have a feeling they'd like to keep his offensive tendencies in the lineup. Which means someone else has to either be traded or sent to Providence. I think the only one they'd send to Providence would be McQuaid, yet he's turned into the secondary enforcer. Still, that's my guess, that they'll send McQuad to Providence, with the outside shot of moving Stuart's salary in trade to pick up a winger. I'm doubtful on that one, however, as I think they like Stuart's leadership.

I agree that McQuaid will be the odd man out. They need to keep Kampfer's puck skills in the lineup and while there is probably a market for Stuart out there, I would prefer to keep him.

I wouldn't want to trade Stuart either but If they are going to improve the team they may have to. I'd hate to see Mcquaid out of the line up but I agree that Kampfer has played more than good enough to stay in.

I wonder which Bruins team will show up tonight? And I wonder which two periods they will decide to play?

I guess the answer was the team that only plays the first period.

Just F@ing ridiculous. I think it maybe time for Julien to go. This play has gone for way to long. They are consistently doing the same thing game after game. If Julien can't correct those problems & get them to show up & play 60 minutes by now than I don't think he will be able to again. You have got to think this BS is driving Neely nuts.

It was interesting to see Savard benched for most of the second half of the third last night after his horrible turnover. Lucic needs to get on the defensive side of the puck more in battles on the wall.
