Jason Harris

Bruins: 2010-2011

One of Bergy's looked like it was slashed.

Considering the rivalry and all the run up to the game, that was one of the more enjoyable games to watch in a long time.

Yesterdays game has me a little concerned. 1)The rangers are a possible first round matchup. 2)That was a playoff type, grind it out game and the type of game the bruins should be winning. and 3) To go far in the playoffs you need to be able to win 1 goal games. That said, the bruins dominated for a few stretches where NY barely touched the puck and the powerplay was looking pretty good. Lundqvist definitely saved that game for the Rangers, but the B's need to find a way to beat good goalies too.

That has been there story all year. they look like the best team in the league one night & the next they look like the worst. They looked better in the third, but your right they need to score when it counts.

Tonight should be a good test to see if they can forget about the Rangers & beat Philadelphia tonight.

Solid win against PHilly tonight. Great to shut down one of the best offenses in the league, especially bouncing back from a tough loss yesterday. Looked like they did exactly what the needed to do. Thomas is looking good too. Interested to see if now that they've clinched a playoff spot they give Tuukka more starts to keep Timmy fresh or try to ride his hot streak into the playoffs

Source: Memory issues for Marc Savard

I know it's been mentioned before but this could one more thing that may indicate that Savard won't be back for a long time, if ever.

He's gotta hang it up. He's got two kids, and is financially set. While I realize it's VERY easy for me to make the comment "oh he's set for life" and not take into account how professional athletes are (ie. unable to walk away from the game when it's time) he is very close to being disabled for life, beyond the symptoms and issues he has now. He needs to start thinking of his family, and if he presses it, what condition he will be in for much of their life as well.

As soon as I saw this article I thought the same thing, just retire and end it. No need to risk your life.

As I believe I have mentionned before, he should definitly hang them up and just enjoy life as much as he or his condition will permit. Since he was injured "at work" won't he be paid by the team's insurance till the end of his contract if he is medically forced to retire?

I think at this point, it's the right thing for both him and for the team if he hangs em up. From his perspective, this is a job and a game he's lived for his entire life, but as others have said, he has to think about his kids and his family as well as his quality of life from here on out. From the team's perspective, obviously you lose one of your best offensive players. But I don't think at this point he could be the same player. If he comes back and can't be himself it doesn't do anyone any good. While a comeback story would be great, he should walk away and give the Bruins some cap space to get someone else in the summer, as well as not having the distraction of will he/wont he come back. That said, Savvy was a hell of a player when he was on top of his game, one of the most underrated passer in the game. It was magic what he did with Kovalchuk and Kessel, and even without a legitimate sniper in Boston the past couple years.

Think I read somewhere it's 2/3 insurance, and 1/3 the team who pays the remaining salary.

Nice win tonight. Great job of taking advantage of the Hawks playing last night. If they play like they have the last few games they will be a tough team to beat. But as B's fans have learned they can go cold at any time.

Brickly mentioned Ryder being a healthy scratch tonight & they were resting him for the playoffs. Considering the way he has played I doubt that has anything to do with it.

On a side note it was WONDERFUL not having to listen to Edwards tonight.

I don't follow the rest of the league well enough, so I'm wondering who else would be comparably deserving of the MVP besides Thomas. I recognize that some people have a bias against goalies because they have their own award, but Rask's losing record seems to illustrate the value Thomas has had for the B's.

IMO the hart's basically another art ross, so I don't think Thomas will get the consideration that he deserves

Based on stats alone I think that Thomas will win the Vezina. Had the B's finished first overall, or at least in the Eastern Conference, then Thomas may have been considered for the Hart but I don't think he will.

Thomas might get a little consideration but with the B's not at the very top of the standings I think it will go to a forward. Looking around a little, I think the front runners are going to be St. Louis, Sedin, and Stamkos. Perry could get some outside votes but the Ducks are too far down the standings, in my opinion.

I wonder who was saying shit to Thornton on the Chicago bench when he was gushing blood

And what he/they was/were saying. It must have been pretty harsh for Thornton to want to fight with the injury he had just suffered.

I don't think Thomas is deserving for the Hart. He cooled off for a while around mid season. I think he will win the Vezina but hasn't been dominate start to finish this season to justify a Hart vote.

On the flip side though the B's could be fighting for a playoff spot if he didn't play the way he did the first couple months of the season.

I can hear Sanderson now: "3 goal lead, the worst lead in hockey." Well, he always said it about 2 goal leads but I think he might change it after watching the B's for the last couple of years. Stop protecting and keep attacking, dammit.

+1

The worst is you see it coming almost as soon as they get that lead.

No doubt. The B's relaxed somewhat, while the Rangers played desperate.

I hate being so late in the year for a learning experience, but if they can bottle this lesson for the playoffs, I have little doubt that they can be contender for the Cup as much as any other team.

We'll see, Cup contenders get up by 3 and want to be up by 4; also rans get up by 3 and think that's enough.

It's just pre-lockout coaching. Get up by one or two (or three in this case) and then try to shut down the other team. Julien has always been a defensive coach and players will default to the style of their coach. If playing D at all costs is what the coach preaches, it's what he's going to get.
