New Rink Rats Sold In Stores?

Recommended Posts

Why would you want to buy these? I know a guy who skated on them before and during NARCH 10 for the Mission Axiom pro team and he wasn't impressed, they haven't got any better from the last model (XXXX) and after just one month were showing signs of starting to split and chunk. This is not to say they aren't a great wheel, the grip from these suckers is amazing, if only they would last more than a couple of months before starting to fall apart.....

From what I've seen and used, Labeda addictions or Revisions are still the best out there at the moment.

I've been on nothing but XX 78A Hornets for years. They develop small cracks very quickly, but I'm very happy with how they perform for 50 hours or so.

Tried a set of Bronze 76A Variants earlier this year, and they chunked out after 5 hours. Not to mention, I felt the grip was poor and they weren't any faster.

This is all at 200lbs.

Haven't tried Addictions, and I've heard nothing but rave reviews of Variants from everyone else.

I'll be buying a set of new Rink Rats once they show up, but as far as I'm concerned they can keep making Hornets.

I got the black XXXX rink rats on my CCM V10's, red XXXX rink rats on my Rbk 9ks and gold XXXX rink rats on my Boss SE's, the wheels were stuffed after two months and I'm a 160lb person skating on a sport court 4 times a week. I had three kids in my U14 team who had 9ks with XXXX wheels and they chewed thru them inside of 2 months. I also tried XXX rink rats and they lasted slightly longer but same result.

As I said before, I know someone on the Mission pro team and the comment for the new rink rats (on Axiom skates) across the team is basically the same as above, great wheel for a month or so and then they start to fall apart. These guys don't care as they get all their stuff for free but for those of us that have to pay for there gear it gets a bit tiring having to replace wheels all the time......

A couple of my team mates have used Revisions and swear by them, and others that post here such as fatwabbit.

I put the orange Labeda Addictions on my Boss SE's at the start of this year and they are still going strong. A couple of tiny cracks starting to appear but no chunking or deterioration. 3 other team mates have these and have the same results and some of these guys are a tad on the large side. I've also seen kids I train use Dynastys and some other Labeda wheels, nothing but good results from them.

Other wheels you shouldn't try are anything from Hyper. The last good wheel they made was the green Trinity wheel they put on the Boss 08 skate. They then moved their manufacturing to another country / plant and since then they have been absolute crap (ask the speed guys), I destroyed a set of the 09 purple trinitys in under 3 weeks.

Hey guys - just want to shed some light here...

The 2011 Rink Rat line will be released Mid-November. The Hornet Split has been improved upon from the previous Hornet. We upgraded the urethane and internal components for a grippier and faster wheel. In our testing throughout the summer, durability has not been an issue.

RE: Mission Pro Team - we supplied Team Mission Axiom with 2-3 sets per player just for Narch alone to make sure they were always on fresh wheels. That doesn't mean the wheels went bad after 2 games...its just we make sure our pro teams and our partners are well taken care of for the event. Also, take into account the ice court in San Jose is pretty tough on wheels and everybody there was wearing through wheels very quickly, no matter what brand. Another thing, most of the wheels we had at Narch were color samples so essentially it was the same Hornet as 2010 just in the 2011 split colorway. Thats probably why your friend didn't feel a difference. tricky huh :)

The team here at Faction Sports is very excited about the re-launch of Rink Rat for 2011! We've spent this entire year working on the new product line so we can bring you the best product we can offer. We'll be hitting a lot of tournaments this coming year so be on the look out for us. If your interested in winning some free product, friend us on facebook "rink rat hockey" or email me at alex@faction-sports.com

vet88- send me some pics of your wheels. I'd like to have our R&D dept take a look and see what we can do to help you out.

Take care guys

Alex

Any chance you will re-introduce the 80a wheel? Perhaps a custom order?

Not sure I like the idea of redesigning the wheel. IMO Rink Rat got it right the first time. The durability, speed and grip was nicely balanced. I hope not to see a compound similar to other manufactures where the wheel feels like a cats tongue after only a few games. When a Rink Rat wheel would die on me after a couple months it would start getting cracks and split..much better break-down than a cats tongue after a couple games. My only issue was occasionally I would get a tweaked hub and the wheel wouldn't spin properly. I was very sad to see the 80a wheel go though..it was amazingly fast, durable and had just enough grip on sportcourt for me.

Seems really slow. They were promoting at NARCh and still not out. I think they lost a lot of potential revenue doing that.

And now IW's arrival date changed to mid-Jan for the Split and Hornet and early-Feb for the rest of the line...

Does anyone know the difference between the new Hornet Split wheels and the old Hornets? Jump in price from $9.50 to $12 a wheel and there is no information on them anywhere I can find. Plus they have been really slow to market. Anyone who has the T9’s and/or has used the split wheels chair to chime in with their thoughts? I would really like to know what anyone who has used them thinks and how they compare to the normal Hornets.

Very disappointed in the price..completely unjustified. I was looking forward to the new line, but not that this price. They just lost a customer. The new HotShot is more than what I paid for the old Hornets, and I highy doubt they will be lasting me much longer. I already tear up Rink Rat 78a's in about 3 weeks.

They probably came up with their pricepoint by looking at the Addiction, rather than realizing they have the same product that's been out for years. At least the Addiction wears well. But still.. you don't raise your prices for no reason in this economy!

Ya im not sure if out college team can afford to use rink rat anymore we use to require everyone to wear them because they were the best for the floor we had and play tournys on. they pretty much priced me out of the market... sad too bc i love them

Not worth that price at all. I didn't notice much of a difference between the split and the hot shots....

have you used them and if so are you saying they are worse then the hornets?

Yes I use them right now. They came stock on my T9's. Let me start with the fact that I only skate RR's. I have used Hot Shots exclusively before I had the Splits. Nice grip with them, but I would expect that as I went from 78A to 76A with the splits. They wear alright, but the one thing I have been impressed with is the fact that NONE of them are cracking/chipping. Its a nice change, but worth $12.95? I don't think so.

I just ordered some hornets from inlinewarehouse, I'll throw down some thoughts on them when I put them on my skates,I like to have two addictions up front and the rink rat 78A on the back two wheels. Ive had the two addictions on the front for 4 games,so lets just say those wheels will have a 4 game head start on wear and tear, compared to the new hornets going on the back.

so far these new 2011 hornet splits are holding up very well. no signs of cracking,7 games and hours of open hockey. Still holding great grip.
