revolutionz_s13 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2010 Hey all, I am in the market for a new pair of skates. I have done some searching and cant really seem to find the answers I'm looking for. Currently, I have a pair of vapor xxxx that I have been wearing for 2 years, and they have been great. My only issue, however, is that the liner in the boot is starting to wear through in a few places, mainly in the bottom of the heel and along the tops above the ankles right at the top of the shell of the skate. It has gotten to the point that the shell is starting to dig into my ankles and hurts quite a bit. So having the xxxx's, I was looking between the x50's and x60's. It doesnt seem to me that there is much difference between these 2 skates other than the liner. Is this correct? Also, people that have been using the x60 skate, how is the liner holding up, being that it is a fabric and not the same liner (leather?) of the vapor xxxx's? It seems to me like that liner having a seam going all the way through it also would maybe start to come apart easily? After wearing through the liner in my xxxx's those are just a couple things that I am curious about. I guess my biggest question is that for someone who skates about 4 times a week, mainly mid level beer league games, am I going to notice much of a difference between x50's and x60's? I would almost like to get the x60 le, mainly because I think the skate looks much better, but again that liner makes me kinda skeptical. Thanks for your help. MyBoxersSayJoe 133 Report post Posted October 13, 2010 I've had the X60 LEs for about 6 months now and they're holding up fine. I wear socks, and there's not problem with the liner. I've been playing 2-3 times a week. Whether they'll hold up long term, I guess I'll see.
stran11 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2010 I too have the limited edition X60s and have had no problems with the liner in the last 8 months. I play beer league twice a week.
BuckleyHockey15 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2010 I also have the X60 le, ive had them for about 7 months, playing competitive high school and summer league hockey 4-5 days a week, and so far there has not been one thing wrong with the liner, they're still actually in pretty much perfect condition, whereas my xxxxs were ripped up after only a couple of months, but honestly i think the only differences between the x60 and x50 is the cosmetics on them and maybe a slight difference in the liner, according to one of the employees at my LHS. And on a further note, my buddy got the x50s, and they have held up fine for him, no rips in the liner or anything
Dolom1te 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2010 I have the normal X:60's and even after a rep season, where i was on the ice 4 times a week, and then a summer hockey season, where i was on the ice 2 times a week, they are still in great condition. i need a new blade, but the boot itself is great and shows no terribly visible wear. I would highly recommend the skates as they have great performance and are very durable. The liner has been great in mine, besides the colours fading slightly, they look as good as new. duch 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2010 There a several guys in my mens league with these skates and all of them have nothing but good things to say about the X60's. Durability does not seem to be any kind of problem with them. Most of them play at least two to three times a week winter and summer and none of their skates look like they have any major wear on them.
raganblink 82 Report post Posted October 14, 2010 as a sharpener the only durability issues i have seen with these were after a year of release, and for kids who played ushl. but considering they literally are skating 7X+ a week I couldn't expect less, really. The rubber liner seems like it will last a long time.
MyBoxersSayJoe 133 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Anyone else get a somewhat funky rubber-ish smell from them over the summer in the heat?
thorbs 2 Report post Posted October 17, 2010 Mine have a fair bit of superficial damage after about 8 - 9 months of high-level contact hockey, but seem to be holding up alright.
