Buying older model skates

Recommended Posts

hey everyone...

Does anyone know of any old school shops or local hockey shops that may carry older lines of skates? when i say old, i'm talking about within the past 4-5 years. I've scoured the internet (hockey sites, ebay, craigslist) for Bauer Vapor XXXX skates and they're very hard to come by. i'm a size 7D or 7E. the fit of these skates is better than any skate i've used and i would like to get another pair.

any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Perhaps try a Play it Again Sports? They're skates are mostly used, but occasionally you can find some old gems depending on where the shop is

i've called the two that were local to me, and they either aren't specialized in hockey enough or they don't have them in stock.

i don't mind used ones if i have to go that route. ebay seems to have a few here and there as i've already picked a pair off. What's left here and there are 'E' and 'EE' widths. from what i hear, there's not much of a difference from D to E, not sure about EE.

Consider that a size 7 Vapor XXXX is a very popular size. This increases your odds of finding them unfortunately.

i've seen more in 8-9 than 7 because of the surplus of pro stock stuff on ebay. i've only seen a few pro's wear 7 (Comrie and Park)

Sorry for bringing up an old topic, but try gunzo's closeout skate section

+1 on checking with Gunzo's. You could also try giving Jerry's Hockey Warehouse (in Alsip, IL) a call. (708) 597-1144. They are another well-known LHS out here.

Bertelli's in West Springfield, MA- They have have lots of Pens, Rangers and Bruins prostock skates new and used.

For example- Colby Armstrong size 7A CCM U+ custom and Marc Recchi size 7D same skate

WOW!

You must be why there is great product next door in the hockey shop. They do not have a website, just a an ebay store, powerplayauctions. Tons of Pens, Rangers and AHL prostock product.

In the words of Mr. Wonka, "candy is dandy but liquor is quicker"!

I'm from BC which outside of UTAH probably has the most arcane liquor laws out there in North America* (possibly wrong).

This... seems like a promised land, if I can go get my skates sharpened, buy a new stick AND get my Liquor...

Someone make this happen in Vancouver quick!

Hey so I wanted to know if anyone had any places where I can find more of these older model skates from '09 '10 '11.

I will check out play it again and gunzos but I was wondering if there were any other great places!

Thanks!

I think Perani's has quite a bit of older skates, you could go on their site for a look.
