Dealing with blister on One100s

Recommended Posts

Got new Bauer One100's and after my first skate I have the worst blister I have ever had! Its only on the inside of my left foot, the right foot is absolutely fine.

I'm just looking for tips/advice how I can solve this problem before it wears a hole in my foot!

I'm going to try baking them this week, but never really done this properly before, I guess I need to get the inside left of the boot to expand out a little, maybe curve around my foot a little more. Will baking them sort this out? Or are there other things I can try?

I believe you can punch the boot, most shops could do it and even yourself (not really recommended tho).

PS: DUDE I WAS EATING! no seriously, you should have some sort of warning: gross picture ahead or something like that ahah

ohh...just bake em... i had the same blister when i'm using my one75 for the first time... oh gosh...

I also had a blister my first skate in one95s. I went and bought some thin under armor skate socks. Never had an issue since. (I use to go barefoot)

Blisters are caused by moisture and rubbing. Dress socks got rid of any blister problems I had. They do not absorb water like cotton socks (if thats what you wear) and will help any sort of rubbing cause by going barefoot.

YES! Those skates are meant to be baked to get optimal fit! When you bake them, make sure you're wearing the socks that you usually wear when you skate.

Bake them and get some dedicated skate socks that fit snug and are of moisture wicking material. Bauers, drymax, eason skate socks are good.....that should take care of it. I doubt its the skate thats doing that...its most likely your sock that shifting and rubbing your foot raw. If that doesn't help, then go get a punch of that location.

blisters are often caused by skates that are too roomy. If the your feet are shifting alot because theres too much room in your skates you will get blisters.

a lot of players go to a thicker sock to take up more room. Ie, going to dress socks from bare feet.

I had the exact same blisters with my old skates a size too big.

I just got one100s and skated in them twice without baking them and they feel fine, so should I still bake them

The reason these skates need to be baked is to ensure is to eliminate negative space between the skate and your foot for a precise fit. If you're ok with them without having them baked then there's no point.

Just an update. I had a bake, didn't notice any difference either positively or negatively. I changed my socks to some Nike Dri-Fit ones and I put a Gel blister plaster over the sore spot. I've had no problems. Skating is great at the moment, I have a feeling that without the gel plaster it may blister again as I can feel pressure on that spot, but there would be some anyway as I have a bubble of gel there!

I got two plasters left in the packet and when they are done I will go without and see how I get on. A couple more skates should help break them in a little anyway.

On the plus side, I love how stiff these skates are. I have more strength in my stride, more stability and increased confidence on them compared to my Vapor 40s I just came from. Very impressed so far.
