Gripping Sticks

Recommended Posts

I have tried most methods of gripping sticks. I searched the forums for gripping sticks threads and i have mainly ran into Ztedge and powr tac.I cant find the ZTedge for hockey only the one for baseball. I have tried wax, candy caned, hair spray, backwards tape and none gave me the same rubbery feel as you get on a grip stick. Has anyone found a spray on type grip that will get my non grip x60 to feel like a new grip 11k. I want something rubbery and tacky. Thanks

Been searching on and off for years. Powr Tac is the best I have come across. I'm open to any other good suggestions as well.

Whomever invents the solution to this will be rich. I've always thought some kind of durable rubber cement would work, but retail rubber cement would just rub off too quickly.

I'm gonna try to re-answer this tomorrow, but do any of you guys know that spray thing? There's like a stickum spray-on grip. I just saw it yesterday, but forget the name. I think it's made exactly for hockey too.

just was gonna post plsti dip... also, the best i find that doesnt wear out too fast is rubbing the edge of a roll of hockey tape on my stick... the spray on stuff wears off way too fast and is too "sticky"

i tried the zt edge stuff. mixed results, but it smells junk. it's alright but i don't think its sticky enough to compare to my dolo. maybe i need to put more layers on, but it takes forever to dry if you put too many.

Using the tape gripping method works, but you have to do it frequently and can kind of be messy. It feels a lot better with the glove on however and isn't too sticky. Plastidip gives things a nice grip, but you may run into some peeling problems and re coating previously peeled plastidip can get really sloppy.

I'm now thinking it would almost be a better idea to take something from a football receivers glove and have it sewn into the palm of whichever glove is your powerhand.

Some gloves have had that in the past. I know some old CCMs and the Salmings I had used grip on the palms.

What were your thoughts, did it work well?

It wears off over time, generally long before the palm itself would need to be replaced.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

plastidip doesn't stay on sticks very well. you'll have to keep spraying your stick. it might work better though if you lightly sand the stick and then really clean it good (i haven't tried that). i don't like zt edge either. it wears off really quick and when its on, it is too sticky. i want grip, not for the palms to actually stick to the stick, if you know what i mean. its also fairly expensive. i think the best solution is still rubbing backwards tape on your stick or candy caning.
