greenstripetowel 1 Report post Posted December 30, 2010 I have a broken vapour xxx lite I'm trying to convert into a tapered shaft. I have already cut a lot off of the shaft and the inner walls still have a rounded shape and I can't fit a blade in. Has anyone converted one of these? Should I keep cutting more off? I feel like if I cut any more off it will ruin the benefits of the low kick point.

$m0k3 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2010 Well its 0.47 tapered and almost all tapered blades are 0.52. I don't know if there is a point where it will eventually fit though but its not meant to. I would try to shave a bit of the blade if anything first, that way you don't mess with the shaft too much.

I'd prefer to mess with the shaft moreso than the blade.

I'd prefer to mess with the shaft moreso than the blade. With the shafts and blades in my house now, there's a lot more room for reducing the size of the of the blade tenon as opposed to the walls of the shaft. I've previously sanded down Mission pro-stock blades to fit in notoriously small Warrior Dolomite shafts without any detrimental effect to the blade (they all broke in the middle of the blade). I'd be scared of snapping the area of the shaft where the blades fit by making the 1-2mm(?) walls any thinner.
